I wanted to hit the Baccy with Calcium nitrate for a second time thru the drip lines but we have had nothing but rain. Then I saw some buds. I want yellow not green.
I tilled some in the ground before planting so I know they ain't starving.

Budding has snuck up on me too. I wanted to get a second good fertilizing before budding but looks like not going to happen. I would rather accept what I get than risk making curing more difficult by fertilizing too late.

I agree, the grow out pot plant survivor went to bud also.
I topped some plants and they are still growing like mad.

looks like you got plenty of room in that field to do some plowing and a massive planting '' next year ''

luckilly i got a 2'nd fertilizing in before it was too late.

i really havent been documenting my grow blog.

kinda wish i had. but its been a odd season... my friend uses my usb cord to charge his phone... NOW I GOT TO GO GET A NEW ONE aaarrrgghh.

but ive hit my plants with all types of fert's... from granular to liquid,

next year is gonna be big for me.. ill have my drip line in ..and my overhead irrigation should be 100%

Sorry, my last Yr. Growing.
Dons pricing is less than growing my own and I would rather spend time with my family than living in the Baccy patch after work. My kids know tobacco is bad for them and want nothing to due with it and I can't disagree with them.

I tested the Funkey pepper plants and the tomato plants that have curling and bubbly brown leaves with spots Also.

They look bad.
But the all the tests came back as NEG.
It will be interesting to see what Penn State Says.
The test kit I got comes from a well known and trusted co.
It Cost 150 bucks shipped

I had the same thing last year with my Tomatoes, Agent said it was from a drift of Atrazine I had sprayed on bad grass next to my Garden. (Looked like they had Polio!!

I did not use any herbicides or weed killers and there is no way there was drift from any neighbors since I have none close enough.
USHOG figured it out I am pretty Sure.
They have nitrogen toxicity. It might be my fault also, I nailed the Baccy and the veggie garden Hard with calicum nitrate in the beginning of the season.

I hear you. I'm planning on at least taking next year off and see what happens. I will plant a nice clover cover crop just in case. Don's cigarette tobacco prices just dropped by around 20%. Our curing chambers can make a couple of hellacious humidors! ;)

I enjoy some of my cigar varieties so much that not growing would be a sad outcome for me. You just can't get Little Dutch, PA Red, Long Red, Vuelta Abajo, Swarr-Hibshman, and a bunch more. Don's wrappers are always nicer than my own, and his fillers work wonders with some of my milder tobaccos. I prefer my milder burleys for pipe blends.

For flue-cured and Oriental, home-grown can come close to Don's, but it's a heap of work and time and attention.

So I certainly understand the home-grown vs. WLT equation. I don't know the math for cigarettes. For cigars, WLT leaf can get you cigars for ~60-90 cents a stick. Home-grown, for me, comes in at ~25-30 cents per cigar. The difference is in sweat equity--except I keep burning up my equity.

I have about 150 to 200 pounds of equity right now plus this yrs. grow.
I wrecked Jacobs Ice Cream Birthday Cake last week.
The down stairs chest freezer disaster making cadivish bit me in ass last weekend.
After my disaster in it, me and Jacob cleaned it real good. Bleach and all so the wife would not freak out.
No one never noticed a Baccy smell before, that's long time ago.
At his birthday party People were sniffing there cake when eating it, Jacob Yells out the cake smells and tastes like tobacco. Thanks Dad.
They put it in the freezer in the basement.
I guess nobody likes tobacco tasting Ice Cream Cake.
WTF

That is a strange one. My big Gem scared me by suckering at knee high, badly, but it was just one round, after removing them once, no more yet.

GrFinnys, Bamboo Shoot is a cool looking plant.
It was planted a little later and took it good old sweet time but is taking off like a rocket now.
It is catching up to the rest and no flower heads yet.

Thank You, Professor. They look better in the pics. The Jap Beetles have been at them bad again and the nitrogen toxicity has done a lot of damage to the leaf.
There is around 975 to 1000 plants and they are kicking my butt.
