I had a bit of air cured Virginia Gold that was not fermented. I decided to make cavendish out of it with great success. Continuing my experimentation with a wide variety of different tobacco flours, I took some of the stems and ground them up. After adding 2%powdered sea salt and 2% sodium bicarbonate, I moistened it very slightly. The result was jaw dropping. It smells like apricots, is smooth and mellow with light nicotine. It is a real dessert snuff. I can imagine this mixed 50/50 with my fermented Virginia tobacco flour, which smells like sweet figs. I can't wait! I continue my tradition of letting the natural scent/flavor of each tobacco variety shine through with very little extra anything added. I am very happy with the result. The only down side is that I don't have much of it. Now I know what to look forward to in larger scale next year. This will be high on my list of signature snuff blends.
