Dubhelix 2020 grow

The sprouts look ok, I guess. Maybe they’ll make it. This one is twice as large as all the others, but about 2/3rds of them are showing vibrant new green growth. The other third are still pale and tiny and on deaths door. Oh well.

Next time I’ll stick to what I know and use what’s worked before.



Since these guys will need to grow for about a month before being set out, I’m probably going to steal their beds for some of my hemp and dig a new bed for the little Dutch.

Ten or twelve little Dutch plants won’t need a ton of space.

Keep on keeping on brother. There is still time. A Virginian or two on this forum had time for a sucker crop so you should have time to finish out your first crop. Besides, those babies deserve a chance after the fight they are putting up. I predict some nice leafages.

They are going to be a lot happier in that awesome looking soil you have. They will sit there awhile as the roots spread and then take off. First hurdle over.

They are looking great. Really nice root ball. Have a good grow.

Today the seedlings got transplanted into the medium sized cubes. From the 40 starter cubes, I chose 28 sprouts, and snugged them into their new homes. I only had 24 cubes made, so I pressed out another set.

They’ll be as close to the fluorescents as I can get them for a couple weeks.

Now for water and waiting.

Holy cow! (doffs fedora). The only thing I could suggest is to be cautious on how much water you apply in that clay based soil of yours.

So far so good. One bit the dust for some reason. Oh well. The rest look plump and perky.

Several more of my seedlings made a comeback, so I guess I’ll find a spot for them in the rows. They’ve bee sitting out in full sun, or what passes for full sun with the rainy weather we’ve been having. They’ll probably end up kinda-sorta shade grown, some of them are situated in the shadows of the hemp bushes, which may get quite large.

I really, really like these deep-cell trays.

So far I’m pretty impressed with Little Dutch.
I appreciate vigor and resiliency.

I also like Little dutch. Long, leathery leaves. I find it to be stumpy, hardy and is the earliest flowering of the varieties that I am growing this summer. I have already topped mine as of 6/22/20.

There we go. These two have made the subtle transition from “seedling in the field” to “rapid vegetative growth”.

The soil in this bed worked out really well. I’ll pull a weed and look at the root clod, and...y’know. It looks goooood. Haha.
