I got a lead that is willing to sell me composted cow manure. I won't need a lot obviously. Are there any adverse effects of cow manure or anything to look out for when using it in tobacco production?

Also, not sure if anyone else is interested in any, but he says he has about a dozen head of cattle and no use for the manure, if you're interested let me know.

I add 100-150 pounds of composted cow manure to each of my 60 sq. ft. tobacco (and vegetable) beds. It does need to be well composted. Since I buy Black Kow, I know that it is 0.5-0.5-0.5.

I used black kow last year as per Bobs. recommendations along with review of my soil test pellitized lime also. It was a one time application tilled in before planting. and you can check BarG 2012 grow logs to see results.

I spread a bag to a bag and a half down each row to be planted 2 weeks prior. 20 bags total for whole baccy garden.

Be aware that the big box stores also sell "compost and manure" in 50 pound bags. Unlike the 0.5-0.5-0.5 of Black Kow, the cheapie stuff is typically 0.05-0.05-0.05! You'd need 10 bags of cheap "compost and manure" to provide the same NPK as 1 bag of Black Kow. If you buy bagged composted manure, be sure to read the analysis on the bag.

Lime takes a few mounths to kick in if you gona use cow this year put out lime now. Cow is full of acid. If you have natrul acid soil use more lime.

Black kow is already composted. I added the lime perhaps 1 month previous which is recommende for a few months to take affect. It must have taken effect before my harvest because it was good. Next year I'll be strictly a horse manure man. due to the pile i'm composting.

Looks like they would be a whole lot of ammonia in hourse crap. I need a good long lastin fet. for my three grows and I can get hourse shit thats a year old. My problem with hourse crap is that its full of weed seed. But I could use a preemerge herbicide. I dont know what Im gona use for fert. this year. I ant got no seed or fert. yet. After the Hollydays am gona have to get after it.
