It's a good price, less than I paid for mine.
Now if someone would come up with a set of gears that would allow for a wider cut (for pipe tobacco), that would be great. I saw some drawings on a German language tobacco site, but now I can't find the page.

Can anyone tell if the blades are on the machine? I can't make them out in the pictures.

Seller says the blades are in good shape. I'll know more when the machine gets here. Thanks for posting the link Woodsroad. ;) A couple of my cousins are growing tobacco this year, if either one of them needs to borrow a shredder I can lend out that bullet proof Tech One and not spend sleepless nights worrying about my precious Powermatic. Will also make a great display beside my "display only" copper still.

It's a neat machine. I have one in LN condition. Just wish that the cut was wider.

OK for RYO, but too fine a cut overall for the pipe blends that I make. It's OK for some leaf, like whole leaf Latakia that burns slowly, but not as good for stuff that burns hot and fast.
Just my opinion.
Still, and exceptionally kewl machine.

Is it possible to turn the blades over (end to end, not backwards) so the bevel of the blade is on the other side, widening the gap between the point on the bevel and the anvil of the machine?

I haven't looked at mine for awhile but I think the blades only go in one way.

the blades cannot be turned over, If you want a wider cut remove 1 blade. It will average out to a coarser cut. remove 2 blades and it is coarser yet. The cutting blades must never touch the bed .001" clearance works best.

Great idea. That beats the hell out of re-engineering the thing. Removing 2 blades should give a consistent shred that's 3 times as thick, while requiring the same amount of time and number of rotations per pound of leaf. Elegant.

Theoretically, if you want a thinner cut, half the width like a shag cut, could remove every other "bump" on the wooden drive roller. Don't blame me if it does not work.

hey take a look here http://www.tabakanbau-forum.de/viewtopic.php?t=3169 its from the German forum, they did a study on the tek mechanism.
For hand rolling I don't recommend tek, only the tek 2 which I never seen working http://www.forumdotabaco.com/viewtopic.php?f=234&t=2490 but I do know that, after the tek another machine German made show up with the same mechanism but with 4 blades http://www.forumdotabaco.com/viewtopic.php?f=236&t=2475 I brought this one a few months ago and I am very happy with it
gives a me a 0.2 0.3 mm cut and also smashes the stems so it cuts everything at once
try to search for "tabakschneider" and "tabak schneidemaschine" in ebay.de they use to show up

The 4 blade machine is interesting! I don't know about using Aluminum for the worm wheel and gears. I like the clamp for the bench top. The guard to keep finger tips out of the tobacco could be bigger. To me it looks like a fun project to build.
