Hello all. I couldn't find the "right" forum section to post this in and I hope it's alright to post here. Anyway, I just found out that a lot of times when when you see a person smoking a cigar in the movies it is actually a herb filled cigar that's custom made with herbs as the filler but wrapped in a Tobacco leaf. I'm sure that many are familiar with this already. But, could someone point me towards online places that they have had great experiences with these types of herbal cigars, please? thanks

I order the herbs I smoke from Smokably (not cannabis nor tobacco "Smokably is a retail distributor of organic dried herbs, exotic teas and spices sourced from all around the world. We supply legal dried herbs and herbal blends, containing no THC, CBD, or nicotine, for a pure and enjoyable experience."), but they do not sell them in the shapes of cigars. They sell "pre rolled cigarettes" with their product but they don't look like cigars.

Their products are shredded so I usually roll them in paper or smoke them in a pipe. Not sure it's exactly what you're looking for as I wonder how this would be rolled in something like a cigar. Perhaps movie props are rolled in paper first then "wrapped" in some bigger leaves that look like tobacco?

Let us know if you figure this out, I'm curious!

Wow, that's a pretty steep premium for easy to grow herbs though I see similar pricing elsewhere. Im building a grow list of such herbs as I can just toss seeds in the garden and just let them grow. The flower petals are a bit more trouble but I digress.

There are a few mentions on several other forums regarding herbal cigars but I don't see a specific forum for them. However, even if there were the experience is subjective and going by testimonials isn't always the best strategy concerning the flavor of smokes. Only way you will know is to try one or a few. There seems to be plenty to choose from.

Probably, although for some folks (like me) it's one of the only ways to get that kind of things. I don't have a yard/garden where I can plant things as much as I want, and things that take more than one season to grow (e.g. raspberries, lavender, mulein) are much harder to grow. I did grow some peppermint and chamomile for that purpose, though, and it was fun!

Im in the same boat as I have yet to grow any but my subtle point was more along the lines of "easy to grow" herbs at $80/lb vs. "hard to grow" tobacco at $25/lb. But you will never convince me that you have absolutely no access to a plot of land to grow a flower garden. Doesn't your apartment complex have at the very least a strip of land surrounding the parking lot? It would be incredibly easy to border off a corner and erect a "do not mow" sign, I see it all the time here.

I do believe Mullein is harvested for smoking before it flowers.

I live in a condo, so I'm not the owner of the terrain, all the units owners are, so me deciding to "change something" may be hard. I "legally" have a grass strip between my parking spaces and the neighbour's fence (AFAIK), but I'm not sure "if it's mine so I can do whatever with it" or "it's mine but since it's on the property, I can't manage it the way I like." There are also wires there, just below the surface of the grass, which are not working, but are not technically mine, so it's not an ideal spot.

I do believe Mullein is harvested for smoking before it flowers.
It's what I remember too, but AFAIR the main leaves that are harvested are produced on the second year (the first year, the plant takes the time to produce a root system).

There is always “guerrilla gardening”:
Using some patch of waste/ignored ground that does nothing but grow weeds and gather trash.
I'm on the fence with this approach. Planting a potentially invasive species may cause trouble, globally.

We also don't have many of this type of terrain around here. One is of a former gas station, and generally, those terrains are considered contaminated, so I'm not sure I'd want to consume anything that grew there.

There is one spot I think I could grow something, but I would certainly go and care for it often if it manages to not be mowed by the municipality (I wouldn't let it flower to avoid uncontrollable growth).

Another thing that I've wondered about (not a concern, though), is what is the legality about doing this. I mean, if you get caught dropping seeds, what happens? If you get caught harvesting the plant on a terrain you do not own, what happens; you technically "steal" from another entity ("but I'm the one who planted the seeds!!!" *facepalm*). There is no one answer to this as it likely depends on the jurisdiction.

I’d avoid the gas station, too.
From what I have read online, it looks like trespassing is the primary charge that can be leveled on someone in Canada.
Invasive species is not a problem if you top everything. True- tobacco can come back from a cut down stalk (suckers), but tilling the ground after you harvest, and the frost should prevent that.
If you make it look “good”, people will probably not complain, and a few bamboo marking stakes might alert groundskeepers not to chop anything down. Keeping the area surrounding the plants well tended would likely get you a response of “hey- less work for me” from any city workers.

If caught, just trying to make use of abandoned ground/making it look better would likely get you a minimal charge, if any (likely dropped if you return the area to original appearance).

There are likely guerrilla gardening groups near you- find their websites, and see what legal hassles they’ve had, and what they’ve done to protect themselves, and it might be worth your trouble to try.
