I just smoked my first bowls from my first plug and twist made from my first crop of tobacco....and ohhh man.

It's SO GOOD. The flavor reminds me of a sweeter, kinda figgy/plummy Prince Albert, with the molasses and brown sugar casing. The room note is a winner with the wife too, so that's a double bonus.

I cased both the exact same, with a very light sugar water and molasses syrup. I have to say, the twist edges out ahead of the plug in terms of flavor depth, but the common figgy caramelized note they both share is out of this world. I am so glad I embarked on this endeavor last year, and I'm glad I found FTT for answers to all my questions. I didn't really ask any of you per se, but I had a multitude of questions in my head that were answered by simply reading and staying curious.

For the twist, I rolled it out until it was probably about 5/8" thick (I didn't measure it or anything), taking extra care to roll it firmly throughout. It wound up about up about 12" long, and I folded it over then twisted it again in a tight helix. I then wrapped it tight with cotton twine in a carotte fashion, sealed it with cling wrap, and left it in the cab of my truck for roughly two weeks (free heat).

With the plug, I cut and stacked leaves (misting each one with syrup) into my foil lined press, then applied quick clamps to it and let time and pressure do the rest. Unfortunately, despite clamping both evenly, one side was slightly favored resulting im a somewhat lopsided plug. It's okay though, it's still a win in my book.

I still cannot believe how legitimately good this tastes and smells. I wasn't expecting it. I guess I'm not sure what I was expecting. Perhaps something in the same vein of homemade wine, where it's definitely wine, but it's also definitely homemade and not in a good way
I'm glad my tobacco isn't that.
