I am currently receiving catalogs and online notices of commercial pipe tobacco at sale prices. I am seeing quite a few simple Virginia (bright/ pressed)and Perique blends. Anyone know the proportions?
Also what constitutes a "Danish" blend or danish cavendish from the otherwise normal cavendish ??

The Danish Pipe Shop, in Copenhagen, has been around for ages. Curiously, in their descriptions of pipe blend categories (http://www.danishpipeshop.com/info.asp?text=3), there is no mention of a "Danish Blend". My guess would be that a "Danish Blend" describes a Virginia/Burley/Cavendish blend that is highly aromatic. Mac Baren (in Svendborg) is a Danish company, which should provide a hint about "Danish Blends".

Virginia: Perique ratios depend on the Virginia and the Perique. Using Lemon Virginia and St. James Perique, a ratio of VA:per of about 5:3 balances the pH, and eliminates the tongue bite. This seems to work regardless of additional ingredients, and is probably dependent on the final pH of the blend. With home-made Perique, 5:3 is a starting point for trial-and-error.

Bob got it right there , but i would like to comment that a bit
Danish pipetobacco style is very aromatic ,basicly heavily flavored cavendish and burly with a pinch of virginia
In my opinion it´s not pipetobacco , rather smokable candy but that is my opinion for what it´s worth
