Got some seeds started today,virginia gold,burley,bss,maryland 609, mcy,and florida sumatra ,I will be planting more when i recieve seed for them
I didnt see your 2012 grow log.My plant fared well when I planted tem the way I did. Short growing season with late frost means get them plants growed up quick. I did use a green house to expose them to sun light tho.
As long as you don't keep them in flats, I think starting early this far north is a good idea. You can transplant them into small plastic pots and leave them outside after they have adjusted to sunlight and just bring them inside if you get a May frost. Then they will be larger when you plant in the ground after the last frost date. For me that would be Memorial Day.Boboro, I know it seems early, but time and time again I've learned that in Michigan it's good to have the plants a little bit more advanced when you put them in the ground. Late frost/high winds in the spring warrant the early starting.
