My brother Everett also passed last week. He was 89. Born in 1923 he was a pilot in the US Army Air Corps in the US and Europe. He was preceded in death by my brother-in-law Al Meulendyke of Brown Deer, WI also an Air Corps veteran and P-38 pilot in the south pacific. Neither ever spoke about their combat experience. These were men who talked about everything. I spoke to both my sister and sister-in-law and neither had ever heard a word. Got to be a story there that we'll never hear. Perhaps it's best that way. I honor and salute them.

Now you know why I get firm jawed when I see flags desecrated and people who won't stand for our National Anthem.

I hold the highest respect for those brave soldiers who were willing to make selfless sacrifices to protect us and our freedom for the USA. May God bless their souls.
