As of two days ago, no seed was listed as being "available for distribution." If any funding was approved for a 1/2-time staffer to service the seed bank at NCSU, I wouldn't expect to see the money there for several months. I've made it a point not to pester my one contact there.

Well, I wouldn't hold my breath - funding for such things is very much based on the "political correctness" of the program, the administration in office and market conditions. As i mentioned on another post, tobacco does seem to be making a limited come back in NC for the Chinese market. There is sure to be a change of administration at the state level...... we'll see.

In fact, in Jan, the new legislature and gov will be seated. I'll post hear the contact info for all. If a dozen or more folks here email them, presenting convincing cases for funding for the program, some of them will probably sponsor a bill or allocate funds in the budget. The administration and trustees at the university should also be contacted.

If funding is not available, at least (maybe) they could bundle up their seed stock that is slowly dying and send it off to us to preserve.
