Day 3.

4/24 of the seeds have germinated (2 broadleaf and 2 of the vuelta abajo).

I noticed some white mold growing which is probably because I left it extremely wet the last couple days. It hit 97 in Boston a couple days ago so I was worried about the heat drying it out.

I’ve removed the cover, added the grow light, and will give it more time between watering.

The next few days will be cooler but the grow light throws a lot of heat so hopefully that will help finish off the seeds which haven’t germinated yet.

Good luck over there! CT BL is still grown in the south of MA so interesting to see how it does for you!
You as well. That’s exactly what I was thinking, so we’ll see how close it gets. I think the soil will be the biggest difference as I use miracle grow and grow in pots. The soil here is not great.

Day 4.

10/24 have germinated, but none of my corojo seeds from last years crop have germinated yet. I may start another batch in a few days if there are no signs of life from that group, but I wonder if I screwed something up in the process and the seeds are not viable.

I’ve been trying to keep the grow light on for as long as the sun is up where I’m at, but I’ll be leaving town for a couple days so I may have to leave it running 24/7 while I’m gone. Hopefully they can go that long without water as well.

I usually leave the lights on for 24hrs for the first 2-3 weeks and then, when i thin out the the sprouts i change them to whatever the scheduled daylight hours will be when i transplant outside (usually 15/9). I did this last year and it went quite well.
I do also recall Bob @deluxestogie saying that light is not really needed for the initial germination. once the leaves have started to sprout then add light ASAP.
