I started two weeks earlier and mine aren't that big either. The plants I have in pots are twice as big as the plants in my patch. I'm blaming the clay for now.

That is the dirst cigar I ever rolled and smoked that was 2 weeks old. Aging didn't matter much in this case. Thanks and I took a hit for you BT.That Bezuki spent 3 weeks under shade cover and You could really tell the difference.

The Dixie Shade this year is producing nice indianjoe.I am growing in a more fertile spot and it is producing some decent sized leaves. I have never seen a pic of this variety so can't compare. I hope to include some more pics soon.
My Bezuki is looking to produce some killer wrapper and binders, a very cool plant the way it grows and you can really tell the leaves are thin for there size. They have gotton huge. Big ole elephant ears since last week. Been spending some time out of town and letting my baccy fend for itself. I used spinosad a few weeks ago and haven't had any serious worm problems. I used diluted dish soap in a spray bottle on an aphid problem yesterday and this morning. They seem to like only certain varietys. Knock on wood but my Bezukis have been pretty much bug free from the git go.

I saw a fine tree nursery on the ranch Ive been working. The shade cover and bracing could easily be used for tobacco.
I attempt to do what should be done professionaly and learn the hard way. A simple brace for the corner poles is small diameter cables threaded thru the top and run down to well secured stakes. As opposed to the x bracing I use in traditional construction [ I didn.t deem necesarry. The shade cover is comepletely different tham agribon. I bet I will try again next year for a shade grown cigar wrapper.

I grew Dixie Shade in 2012. That was a fairly dry summer, during which I seldom watered. So I think this is a runty sample, but here's my leaf photo:
