Hey guys got a bit of a worry. My plants are covered in insects (as you can see in the pics) I have been told to get organic insecticide to use now until harvest... I haven't been worrying as they seem to fall off when the leaves are dry... should I get an insecticide? If so, any UK links??
Also, I have been putting my leaves on washing line in the garden to go yellow/brown to dry, we are in the middle of a heatwave in the UK where temps been hitting 32c, problem I have is the stem isn't drying, leaves are very dry and delicate. I have moved them into the loft today but wondering why stems are not drying in this heat.
Thanks

Thank you!
Here is a pic of my leaves so far. Sitting waiting for harvest to be complete before kilning! Do they look good to you? It's so much different from my indoor grow! The texture is thick and the aroma is very nice!
Wow... nice leaves and good color. Now store it for half a year before smoking or... kiln it to improve flavors and time.

You can rinse the insects off the green leaves on the plant or immediately after harvest with some gentle water. I wouldn’t recommend rinsing brown cured leaf as you can wash away nicotine and flavor.

I have dried the stem by stacking the leaf on a seedling heat mat when the humidity was too high for proper stem drying. They need to be dry or they can mold or rot.

Thank you both. Re the bugs, yes all seem to be dead. I will wash the leaves at time of harvest as they have dandelions fluff and other dead bugs. Regarding the others, ill have a "buggy" good smoke ;)
A lot of the bugs on the already brown leaf will just fall off with handling once they’ve become less sticky. I have used a horse hair table top brush with good results or a soft paint brush could work.

Re stem drying. How are you hanging them? How long have they been hanging? I seem to remember that someone had a similar problem last season. Try entering " stem drying" into the search engine at the top of the page.
Some pics of your setup would be helpful.

Thank you for that ill give it a Google. At the moment, I was harvesting at about 70% yellow and hang them on washing line in the garden (been getting 32 degrees c and high humidity though). Leaves themselves drying good and crunchy but steams staying moist
I have since moved them in my loft which is around 42c through the day and around 27c at night, humidity is 40% ish. Seems to be doing better in there. Also got a small fan pointing at them

So as requested, I have taken pics of my setup.
First pic is the leaves freshly harvested, cleaned and color curing, yes they look at little green but had great success turning them yellow.
2nd and 3rd pic is my leaves stem drying once yellow in the loft
4th pic is completely dried, very very delicate leaves just come out of the loft
5th pic is my bag of low case leaves waiting until end of harvest to be kilned
6th pic is just one of my best whole leaves that stayed in tac sitting in low case

Thoughts? :) be nice, it's my first grow outdoors with only help and experience from you guys ;)

They look good to me. I am sure you're on the right track, I would suggest that you try to find a better method of hanging them. As they go brown and dry you don't want them to get wet, so if a shower comes through you may cause a lot of damage trying to unclip them. Here's my setup.

These hangers are reasonably priced and work for me. There's many different ways to hang them, have a look around and see what works for you. Keep doing what you're doing and you'll soon be enjoying the final product of your grow.

It’s like The Rolling Stones stopped making music and started growing tobacco.
Like a gorgeous cloudless night over London with the full moon peeking over the top of Big Ben.
Its like James Herriot adopted a puppy.
Like the Beatles had a tobacco love child.
Keep up the good work. Carry on. (y) :D

Thank you! Yes, usually at night I put them hanging in my shed in case of showers (very likely in the UK) ;)
I'm going to invest in those hangers for convenience! Thanks
