I've read a ton about the different variants. I really love Connecticut Broadleaf (maduro) cigars.

I cannot find any in stock to purchase. Anyone have a lead to find some? Wrapper or binder will work.

Secondly, what in your opinion is the best substitute? PA? CV PA? Shade (not really broadleaf).

Nothing else will really resemble the taste of commercial CT Broadleaf. Nothing. So be bold! Try something new. Unless you are planning to give the finished cigars as a gift, I highly recommend buying binder class leaf at half-the price, so you can buy twice as many pounds of it. (Once you light up the stick, both wrapper and binder meet the same fate.) I've sampled nearly every WLT wrapper and binder variety currently in stock. Each offers its own character. I was about to recommend a couple, but I just couldn't choose. They are all wonderful. And it's fun to use a single filler blend, and compare it wrapped in different leaf on the outside.

My cigars right now are not gift worthy. They look like dog rockets. I'm ordering two blending kits from WLT to maximize the types of tobacco I have on hand. I'm going try a mix and match approach until I find something I really like. Then order enough to roll up a couple of boxes and move to the next blend. I'm hoping once my rolling improves I'll be able to gift out a few.

This is exactly what I’m doing. The mix and match thing seems to be working for me also I have read on here somewhere someone mentioned the Sumatran binder is also wrapper quality. This is my expirence as well just throwing that out there

Agreed! The WLT Sumatra binder I’ve used as wrappers many times. I like to bring it up to “case” a little more than I would if being used as a binder. I’ve also taken some Viso & Seco filler and have been able to use them as binders as well. IMHO, just because it’s classified as “wrapper”, “binder”, or “filler” doesn’t mean it has to be used as such. I think that it more so means how good the quality is of the leaf, like any holes in the leaf. So, in theory, any leaf could be used for any part. With the exception of Ligero, Viso, & Seco, you can’t really turn a Seco leaf into a Ligero. Just my $.02.

Here's what I got.
Ecuador Maduro Wrapper
Nic Wrapper
San Andres Wrapper
Sumatra Binder
Dom. Olor Binder
Nic Binder
Dom. Seco
CV Rene Seco
Nic Habano Viso
Nic Ligero
Nic Jalapa Ligero

My plan is to roll 5 exactly as the kit calls for. I wanna keep track of the scraps so I can burn them individually to see if I can smell or taste any distinct flavors/aromas from each leaf type. I'm going to have to be disciplined and let the cigars rest for a couple of weeks to a month. I'm then going to smoke one from each blend. I'll then make one change based on what the reading of the scraps told me.

I cannot wait to try the Ecuador maduro wrapper. I've read some good reviews about it's quality.

I have some "filler" grade Sumatra Seco I got from LO that has about 2/3 the leaves usable for binders and quite a few that I have used for wrappers. Whoever is growing, curing, and aging that particular batch took very good care of it, I think, and that variety seems to be very good all around. Seco, yeah, maybe, but the leaves feel ever so slightly thicker than the Criollo 98 or the Piloto Cubano Seco that I have used.

Anyone order the Connecticut Broadleaf from LO? I've read a few post lately about their quality not being very good. It's the only broadleaf I can find in stock. It's ungraded which I feel is code for not so good quality.
