It might just be algae, I get it every year with no problems.

I had algae last year when I used the turtle tank water to water them.
Got the mold this yr, It came back Again after hitting them with baking powder first then Hydrogen peroxide. WTF.

It seems as if the algae is helping them. It's not effecting them at all. The plants in those cells have grown bigger than the others - although they were the first to get thinned out, so one or the other. Is the hydrogen peroxide working for ya? I have to admit, when I first saw the algae (thinking mold at first) I was worried like crazy.

I have read about algae not being good for seedlings smothers them or something if it gets to bad but I could be wrong.I hit the sprouts again with H202 again straight and killed some and it left bumps where on the leaf where it laid on it until dried. Then I read it should be diluted 10 to 1. I also read to water them with that mix and you will not get mold so I am giving that a try.I also have fans running on them now. Killing two birds with one stone killing mold and strengthing stems..I have a bunch of really Funkey looking starts Like suckers already.

Bet the funny ones are orientals. Mine did it too last year. They stayed small and did not matter.

I screwed up again. The starts in the middle of my basement are just sitting there. It is like 67 degs. Down here.
So I figured I would put the heat mats under them.
That is fine and dandy but the cups on the left side I never Labeled. Cups next to tray is what is in the cups.
Not Now, Did I put the trays back where they came from I doubt it. In the trash they go.
Label Everything !! Good thing they were backups.

The algae is probably just on the surface of the soil, and not affecting the plant or the roots.

Scraping mold, Mildew what ever it is off 800 cups is a PITA.
After almost killing them with h2o2 straight to kill this fungi and burned the leaves and lost a bunch.
I tried milk the other night and that worked for 2 days.
I never had this prob. It has to be in the peatmoss.
It is gonna take at least 4 cases of beer to scrape all these cups.

Tom, Does the mold or algae affect your plants out of curiosity? Sun light might kill that invasive shit. Mold hates the sun.

You may be wishing for some of that. I'm finally getting mine.

This table of 250 plants is the worst, I started them last. Although all the trays have it.
But these are not growing and I read that Algea and mold, mildew Ect. Can cause Damping off which I have in some of the other trays of Larger starts growing.
From what I read it sucks up the nutrients and smothers the plant .

BT, I got mould on my peat moss as well. Definitely came from the peat itself. It was getting bad so I'm trying diluted vinegar sprayed on a few pods that have sprouts to try it out. If it works without killing the sprouts I'll let ya know.

Dang Tom that looks terrible. It's a complete infestation. I'll google around and see if there's anything on the interweb that might help.

EDIT: I found some info. They all agree that what causes it is too much moisture and not enough air flow. You can physically remove the mold from the top, but use rubber gloves and protect yourself from inhaling the stuff. It can be dangerous to you. Then let your plants dry out between waterings and set up a fan to blow across them. BarG is right, sunlight will kill the stuff if you can get them in some sun. After you have removed all you can, you want to treat the new surface with something safe to keep it from coming back. 1 part peroxide to 10 parts water was recommended. Disregard the fungicide recommendations, they are talking about before plants are in the soil. Most seed starting soil with peat moss is sterilized. If you made your own soil from just regular peat moss it may not have been sterilized.
