BT, I tried using diluted vinegar on the mould I have, told you I'd tell you how it went. Well... it works more than it doesn't. I lightly sprayed the mouldy surfaces trying not to use too much for fear of shocking my tiny little sprouts. What mould got more is dead now, I think, at least it's better than it was. Haven't lost any sprouts yet but I'm still wary.

What was the ratio of water and vinegar you used and how bad was the mold you had.
My wife has tomato and pepper starts upstairs in cheap dollar store potting mix and has no mold.
Go Figure. I just stole her dirt bag to start the new seeds in.

I used about half and half, water and vinegar, Heinz vinegar, I dunno what strength. I'm trying peat-pellets (peat-pods). They must have gotten contaminated in the store, old stock from last year or longer. Some of them where pretty bad, having a coating around the top like a fluffy toy. Risky business using vinegar on plants, the PH can easily drop critically and no warning till it's too late. Sometimes plants can take over a week to show signs of shock or stress. Try it on a few at first. Be warned, it could potentially kill the plant.

Maybe just burying the mold with more dirt could help.

Well in the trash with about 500 of them they all had dampned off or the mold did it.
I cleaned the cups, trays, tables ect with bleach.
Half of the survivors are pretty big so I think I am ok with them. Got a haircut while I was at it.
I planted them in miracle Gro potting mix but dipped each plant in diluted hydrogen peroxide to kill any spores one the stalk.
Whats left of them around 250.

Your Harrow Velvet looks great BT. I can't see where the mold problem is there? Those plants look great and the ones You threw-What did they look like? I'm thinking get some new mix and pitch the mix You had in the trash. Something has to be in the soil that the bad plants are in due to how the rest look to Me. I would take a sample to a nursery near by and see if they can call it. They will do it free.

The stems look like they we attacked from within. I would say a virus got them. If You look at the stems they were deprived below the leaf and above the plant it's self. The white doe's not look like a mold. It looks like a mineral. That could also be the culprit. Take some of the same soil to the plant nursary and ask. If that is all it is All You would have to do is get new potting soil from another place so You wont get some of the same bad batch. I'm as dumb founded as You are now.

New Cups would have been cheaper. But they stayed out of the wife's hair and got along for the most Part.

My Wife and I were looking at every Thing that You posted. She just blew Me away with Her input. Linda said there is nothing going bad--- It was the weather there. Even if it is inside. WAAAAAA! ??? She said every 8 to 15 year it happens and no one knows why. She asked Me if any one has had the same prob. I said YES!. Different areas. She said re-plant in dif. pots and run with it . The other thing She said was We will have loss at some spot in the grow for no reason this year. She said to look for problems starting and get rid of it befor more happens. She is from MI and Native to the area and said to look into Your area AGG group to see if it is happening with other crops as well. We have not had that here and hope no one has yet. We have had stalls on My grow and will be watching for this here in NM. Scot and Lina's input to plant health. WOW! If any one has had the same prob as BT please let Us all Know. Very interesting I hope that is what it is Mad Oshea and never happens again.
I think I found where the mold came from tho. My wife asked me to Change the whole house water filter last night so I asked my kid to open the access hole in the wall to see if there is any more filters in there. Low and behold he says we got a leak back there. It is tough to get in there due to the ball bowler that holds the seedlings is next to it and my body does not flex anymore. The zone valve for the radiant floor heat has been leaking slowly. Not enough to come out forum under the wall.I cannot get back there it is studded out about a ft. from the concrete. Does this look like mold to you guys? Kind of to me. I Thru cups of bleach on it since I can't get to it.

Looks like mold to me. Living in Houston, I get to see it allot. Try a solution of Boric acid on it, NOT for you're plants.

Yes Thats alot of mold. The bleach water will help but You need to fix the leak. Good catch- Your family is breathing the sporse as well.

Can You get them out side during the day to natural sun light? Maybe that will do it. I'm stumped on that one due to it is present on the new batch as well. It may be that simple.

Yeah, definite mold. That stuff can be pretty nasty. I had black mold at my old rental house and I noticed as soon as I moved, I got healthier. Less depression, less flu like symptoms, less lethargic.

Careful with bleach as it can be bad to breathe in, also try to not use ammonia as it can create a pretty nasty fume when it mixes with mold.

Also, be sure to fix that leak, it'll save money in the long run

Does your house have a dehumidifier in the furnace area? If so, make sure the hygrometer is working correctly. The one at my office said 15% but was in fact 35% due to it being broken.

I fixed the leak the night I found it. Just took off the zone actuator and it stopped.
I read that bleach does not kill mold it just makes it invisible. So I got a box of boric acid like Leverhead said and hit it with that and followed up with straight H2o2.
Mike you are right That mold is nasty stuff I don't let my kids down there at the moment.
I have been feeling a weird lately almost like hung over and found mold causes that,Brain Fog they call it.
I have a dehumidifier running down there and a hepa Inoizer air cleaner also.
This sucks the house is only 7 yrs. old.

A cup of Chlorox to a gallon of water will kill all mold that it can reach. So it works well on non-porous surfaces, like glazed tiles and other bathroom or kitchen surfaces. Mold in construction materials, like wood framing and sheetrock is protected from bleach penetration, so you have to use something else.
