Grew one variety this year, I was out tending the patch earlier and noticed about a quarter already putting out flower heads, plants are still immature transplanted a month ago. Oh well that's why I buy so much whole leaf I guess, when mother nature decides to get all flakey.

I had started seeds to my gc1 variety late, they're about 2-4 weeks maybe to transplant stage, if this season ends up going long I might have another harvest, but I just felt like bellyaching.

I had some early flowering last year. Just let them do their thing and you'll be pleasantly surprised at how much leaf they put on anyway. Don't get suckered (get it?) into experimenting or making changes, just let them go. It will be fine in the end.

Yeah I'm gonna let them go, fertilizing and caring for them as normal. The last grow I did was with commercial strains from bigb, perhaps I just got spoiled in my recent memory.

On the bright side, if they do finish earlier, and do this semi regularly maybe I have found the perfect northern strain:)

We never frosted but some nights were in the high 30's.

An update though, the plants are looking great out there. They packed on leaves, and the suckers never came back. A few didn't do good and were pulled, 2 started flowing at 8 inches tall or so, killed them.

Grin page says it's a sucker rich variety, but once you get the first suckers off they don't really come back until topping time when they all sucker anyway.

It's a cool variety, and finishes early, perfect for me.

Just noticed when I posted that first post at the end of June. The speed that tobacco grows is amazing. I know it does roots and then jumps, but it surprises me every time by just how fast it grows come the heat.
