I agree. This year I should have 350 plants to put in the ground. Hopefully the weather will be better than last year

Looks like one of those cigar varieties. Now if they can only come out with one with all the same ring gauge...
OK, Here's an idea for a contest winner. The winner would be the one that posts a picture of the most amount of damage done to their tobacco crop!
I would win that one hands down . If I could retrieve my pictures off my old computer . Picture this , 8 acres of big top of the line tobacco cut and on the stick ready for loading with heavey rain and back water level over half way up the tobacco . Looked like tobacco in a lake .

Contest idea? How about the northernmost point that had plants survive the winter? Or, oldest living tobacco plant? I pulled stalks and roots from a few of last year's plants and found two with several shoots growing. Two of six pulled still alive... hmm... I guess that illustrates the bizarre winter we had in the Cleveland, OH area. January's average temperature was 32 degrees (according to the Feb. gas bill). I wonder how long a tobacco plant will survive with the right conditions.
I have a yellow orinoco from last february that I kept as a houseplant that just recently started putting out flowers

How about a contest that will help the shop. I'm trying my hand at tutorials lately and I would enjoy making a few for the greater good.
Maybe a video or written tutorial that goes from leaf to cigarette, various curing, rolling a cigar, rehydration, hand rolling a cigarette, injecting a cigarette tube, flavouring tobacco, storing leaf, storing tobacco etc.
Then you could have a clause saying that by entering the contest you consent to all tutorials to be used on the shop.
I would enter that until my hands fell off. I would also add that international winners would have to pay for shipping. I know it's not exactly fair, but I don't think anyone on here wants to profit from you.

That's actually a pretty good idea. We can start our own youtube channel with all of the tutorials and links there. That has the potential for bringing in hundreds of new visitors to the site.
What is a video worth?...3 lbs. of tobacco?
Of course we would have to review the videos for accuracy before they were accepted and posted on the FTT channel, but that wouldn't be too tough.
If anyone wants to run this program, I'll keep them in the tobacco of their choice in trade for doing the managing.
