I love the creamy, nutty, mellow taste of burley pipetobacco. And since i also very much love simplicity i was wondering if there was any concensus as to which burley to grow, if you want to grow just one, that gives the most creamy taste? I will be using it only for pipe tobacco since i already settled on Virginia gold as my one tobacco for Swedish snus!
I dont expect there will be any one burley everyone agrees on but i Hope maybe to be pointed in the right direction!
Best regards Jonatan

I hope some other forum member can help you in your quest. Although I have grown quite a number of different varieties of burley, the notion of "creamy" is not one that I have ever associated with any pure tobacco.

No, maybe its to optimistic an idea to tick all the boxes with only one type of burley. Its just that its so infinitley overwhelming trying to figure how to make a simple blend that tastes good. If you would make the simplest suggestion possible
on how to make a cool burning nutty pipeblend, what would that be? The only taste that really comes thru for me when it comes to smoked tobacco is the nutty, creamy mild flavours. I have never for the life of me found anything sweet or fruity in any cigarr or pipeblend. Virginia tends to only taste like cigarette for some reason. I guess that is just the wiring of my brain tastebud connection. Or maybe i need to keep at it and train my tounge a bit more.

Is there a particular burley blend that you enjoy? I wonder if this more to do with processing/casing/blending than the actual burley varietals.

I smoke a pipe and I smoke straight burley ( Harrow Velvet ) I grow it myself and I will occasionally press some with molasses and cocoa for a change in taste.
I do like the taste of raw shredded burley with out any additives. I also have some raw burley being pressed now with planks and clamps going on 3 weeks so I'm looking forward to trying it in about another 2 weeks.

I have smoked one virginiaheavy swedish blen by name of Greve hamiltons blandning. And one more burleyheavy blend by name om Mac baren golden blend. Of the two i prefer the mac baren. wich feels less sharp somehow.

Mac Baren Golden Blend includes both burley and virginia, and undergoes the heavy topping and casing characteristic of Mac Baren classic line products. This webpage lists all of the additives in Golden Blend: https://service.bmel.de/tabakerzeug...tichw_suche=golden+blend&zeilenzahl_zaehler=4

I vaguely remember “creamy” being used to describe the smoke of MD 609.
A Maryland variety, that is a sort of “light burley”….
