Re: Curing Leaf

It actually presents the result at the very end: "Compared to a control cigarette formed from flue-cured tobacco, the photobleached cigarette had a bland off-taste"

(Many laboratory studies I have read about the matters of tobacco treatment don´t bother with the question "How does it smoke, after all?")

Re: Curing Leaf

Only my opinion, but why bother with "exposing the leaves to organic vapors" (acetone??!) to obtain a white leaf then "brown" it by toasting??? I think we grow and cure our tobacco in order to obtain a less contaminated product... If i begin to treat my baccy with such nasty chemicals, i can buy the commercial stuff!
No intention to offend, just my opinion, for what it's worth
Have a nice day!

Re: Curing Leaf

The mystery of curing will resolve itself when the time comes. Hang them up and keep them from drying green, molding or rotting. Mother Nature will do the rest for you.
Which varieties are you growing?

Agree with Knuclehead, just hang them, check the humidity and watch the leaves go from green to gold (or Brown if you plant cigar varieties). Its like magic and quite easy!!!!!

Re: Curing Leaf

For the life of me i can not remember them all of hand
I think its early onset of "old timers"
(Ben Brand was kind enough to send me 5 varieties )the names just drew a blank
the pots are numbered though and its catalogued
I will memorise the names ones the seedlings survive hahahahaha
Then i do have Virginia gold ,Kenucky burly and one oriental sumatra
