I only use a wrapper half as a binder if one half of the leaf has holes in it or damage to it. I'll use that half for the binder and the other half as wrapper. Alot of the guys use two binders to firm up their cigars. Binder leaf is nearly half the price of wrapper leaf. Filler leaf is the cheapest. When you get your filler in, regrade it into filler, binder, and wrapper leaves for more blending opportunity and some cheap binder and wrapper. There are usually some very pretty leaves in each pound of filler.
You can also get by with wrapper only with no binder for quick smokes and cheaper cost, especially if the leaf is thick and supple.
But, yeah, you can do it.
