I dont have any experience with it, but I was wondering if it is the same as the one that Camacho uses in their Corojo line? In the WLT site it does say its from the Jamastra valley...

And if there are any hardcore fans of the Corojo what do you feel it goes blended with the best?

Corojo wrapper, now you have my attention. I'm having a hard time deciding which wrapper I like best -Corojo or Ecuador Maduro. Both go so well with Criollo98 . Its a blend that only needs a few other leaves with it.

If you have the supply on hand try this blend wrapped in Corojo...probably my best and most favorite so far. Matter of fact I have 6 in a box now resting for who knows how long.

1 Criollo98 viso
1 Nicaraguan Habano seco
1 Nic Habano viso
(inner wrapper leaf) Corojo binder
Corojo wrapper

Take the Corojo wrapper leaf and case it ,let it soak up for an hour or so,bring it out and gently straighten the leaf , lay it out , smooth it on your rolling board surface. Cut off 1/8-1/4 inch of the natural edge so you have a clean edge remaining , then come back and cut your wrapper strip off of that which shouldn't be more than 2 inches wide for most of the leaf. Set that aside in a plastic baggie to maintain case, use the rest for your binder. Bind it without trimming the head end. Roll that into a pigtail . Roll that up in a 2 inch newspaper strip (as if it was a wrapper leaf) and let that sit an hour to overnight. Unwrap the newspaper and prepare your wrapper leaf.
Smoke it with a cup of strong coffee or a short tumbler of Whiskey ,neat or 2 ice cubes. Tell me what you think .

I agree the corojo goes amazingly well with the criollo. With some habano seco I get earth, cream, sweet tobacco, spice, and a hint of leather. I like equally well bound with Dominican binder and wrapped with PA broadleaf or bound in the PA broadleaf and wrapped in corojo.

Smokin Harley,

Wish I had some Corojo/Criollo right now! Sadly Ive gotta live vicariously through you guys...

So nobody knows if Dons Corojo is grown in the Jamastran valley, like what they used to grow in Cuba?

Has anyone solved the riddle with this leaf? Is there any way to use it?

I tried again last night. Used just the least bit of it as binder, between hab seco and ct shade. The shade burnt off the outside just fine. The hab made a nice cherry that descended into a tube of corojo. This stuff is fireproof. Tastes great. No prob there. Just won't burn.

Has anyone figured this out?

Sorry for all the trouble with this batch of wrapper. If any of you guys bought this wrapper and couldn't use it, send me an email and an order number if you can find it. ([email protected]) and I'll give you a credit on your next order. I'f you'd rather return the fireproof wrapper, I'll give you a refund.

Wow my guys love it here haven't had a bit of problem with it. Now that said you really need to case it, and I am talking in the sink soak it then let in hang dry for about and hr. After that strip it put it a zip loc bag and put it somewhere cool. I use a wine fridge at 58 degrees leave it overnight and roll the next day...great wrapper.

Hey Don, thats a great gesture... Ive heard that all Corojo is pretty fireproof, so I think it just comes with the territory...

Raod,

I might guess you are talking about the regular Corojo wrapper, which I am told burns fine, rather than the fireproof Corojo Oscuro wrapper?
