I've been around Machine tools since I was a kid. My favorite machine in the shop is a Lathe. Of the Lathes the best is the older LeBlond's, "lever heads" were made for about 50 years before they went to the Servo shift. They're rugged enough to take cuts that will scare you and precise enough to do some real nice work. I like them enough to own two of them and they're a pleasure to run.

I was thinking about starting a thread like this because there're a lot of interesting names around here, thanks Michibacy.

Mine is related with İstanbul :)

There's famous arrenger Cihat Aşkın, he's also a violin virtuoso. In 2007 he made a Turkish Classical Music album (instrumental). I love İstanbul and this type of music so I took the name of the album.

Here's the album cover of album "Istanbulin".

My favorite song in this album is "Çeçen Kızı (Chechen Girl)" which was composed by Tamburi Cemil Bey.
There's a copyright or license (?) issue about the site that I gave before (not available for outside Turkey) so I want to add the video for the song here.

BTW, the word İstanbulin indicates an old-fashioned redingot. In English Stambouline or Stamboline. A long, single-breasted frock coat for men worn by Turkish officials in the nineteenth century. The capital was İstanbul at those times so most of the officials were wearing that coat, because of this it took its name from İstanbul.

Among aviators, names are seldom self-selected. They often are assigned by others, and are not intended to be flattering (e.g. "stump" for a short guy). Since my last name is Goff, certain disreputable members of the 58th Tac. Fighter Squadron attempted to press the name of "Jack" upon me. Alas, that was not to be.

The Marsh Wheeling "Deluxe" Stogie is an exceptionally cheap (albeit tasty) machine-made cigar that originated in the cigar Mecca of the world--West Virginia. So one might equate deluxestogie with pretentious trash.

As a kid, it was common to force lefties into righties, but after a while they gave up. I throw a ball right-handed because the only glove my Dad gave me was righthanded. But I eat & write lefthanded because I refused to change. I am not ambidextrous, and am frequently confused on which way to go. If you say turn left, I have to think before acting, but have no problem if you say go east or west. I can shoot a handgun equally left or right, and a rifle goes to either shoulder, whenever. I'm just screwed up that way.
Oh, yeah, my identical twin brother is a natural righty,

When I'm not trying to grow, process and consume tobacco! I have a day job - well a day and night job - which is to play the squeezebox for the delight of the general public. And my name is John.

This is me

Cheers

Squeezy, that's pretty cool! The only way I'd make it on TV, would be as a person of interest (suspect).

PS, It's making my Granddaughter dance!

Well, my user name originated a long time ago. I originally thought of some really cool names. The first one was FMGrowit, but that was already taken, so I went down the line of cool names, Deluxestogie, Istanbulin, AlabamaKnucklehead, BarG and so on.. but they were already taken! Dam it!.. So, I relied on the past for my name. Back about 1980 I was working at an auto parts store attempting to put myself through college (Mechanical Engineering). Next store to us was an auto body repair shop. Everyday a guy from the shop would come over. He was a black guy from Jamaica with a real bad stutter. He used something called a Jitterbug sander and always came in looking J J J J -Jitterbug paper. Before long we were referring to him as the JJJJ Jitterbugdude. I'm not black, I don't stutter and I'm not from Jamaica but I liked the name...mon.
