Top one.. we had a few nights dip back into the low 40s so even though theyre in the greenhouse , i put them on the heat mats and covered them. Gave a couple the old leaf cut . Now theyre taking off. Still have a couple low 40 nights ahead and highs in the 70s for another couple weeks.
Criollo 98 bottom pic, is popping 2nd set of leaves . Theyre slow but making progress.
Once my potatoes come out end of the month ill have a place for these to take off.

Tobaccos looking better each day. Ill post a pic later .
Yesterday separated the ones i had multiples in starter cells to individuals. Little dutch, perique (still no clue of its actual variety if anyone got some from Big Bonner when he sent it to me, around 2015 or 2016 id love to know, so i may label it correctly, ) Macchu Pichu and Havana 142.
New soil, fresh with a helping of screened compost mixed in . Gave the bigger ones the half leaf cut treatment, and a good drink of JLF , for those unfamiliar thats Jadam liquid fertilizer. Very similar to compost tea . Im leaning toward using that in place of commercially available fertilizers full of fillers and dyes and no micronutrients found naturally . I used to like Superthrive but i cant always find it. This is free and incorporates rainwater, IMO ( indigenous micro organisms) that boost a plants health, growth with nearly zero transplant shock. Variations can be made easily and used for pest control as well. On the veg side , its done very well. Deadheaded a mum , clipped small and put those in the brew bucket for a natural pyrethrin addition.

@BigBonner made a barrel of perique-processed leaf. I seem to recall that it was burley (his primary, commercial crop).

Bob
Im still enjoying that batch as if it were rare as unobtanium. I thought it was a burley but that was so long ago ,i wasnt sure. Hopefully the seed im currently growing will reward me with more seed . Is Big Bonner still around?

Built a simple flake press today. Old oak barnwood ,4 x 2 x 10 inside, 4 sides , long side open, with a not so snug follower piece to clamp it down . Got black mammoth cav in it now. Hanging up in basement currently. Ill relax it and check it tomorrow , to make sure the parchment paper doesnt become part of the flake . Then set it back up for a week or 2 rest n dry
