Knucks it is an open code software. It will do just about everything microsoft office will do. It reads all MSO files. It has a much smaller foot print than mso and is free. It works well.

If I am not mistaken watch the format you save it in as the other programs dont open real good sometimes. I broke down and got excel later and havent used this one in a while.

It's the primary program/suite that I use. It's cross platform, it's free, and it's simple like Word 98 used to be. Highly suggested.

I use it all the time without any issues. Sometimes it doesn't copy quite right or the format stays embedded and is hard to get around, but it doesn't take more than 2 - 3 seconds to fix it.

Gimp is a completely different story.

Not true. You have a choice what format to save in. I use it all the time on Linux.

I've used openoffice for quite a while and have had no real issues. It beats the torment out of $280 bendoveroffice from windows.

It has a program like Word. You can type letters on it. Make lists of your seed bank, what you want to plant next year, etc. I copy posts and pictures to it from the forum so I won't have to try to find it on the forum again. For example, I have files named "Seed Starting", "Saving Seed", "Stogies Grow Blogs", "Curing Tobacco" etc. When I find something on the forum I want to remember or look up later, I copy it to Word and save it in one of the files. Stogie's Grow Blogs always have great information in them so I have a file titled "Stogie's Grow Blogs". I'll copy the posts and pictures I want to save from his Grow Blog to Word and save it to that file. Or I'll gather all the important information about starting seed and copy it to a Word document and then save it to the file named "Seed Starting". When seed starting time comes around again next year and I want to refresh my memory, I just read the file off my computer instead of reading thread after thread off the forum. All the seed starting info is in one place on my computer, and I can skip over my off topic posts. It's like having the best info off the forum without the fun stuff. I can also keep notes from my own growing experience and put them in the files too. That's the program you would probably use most. There are other programs that come with it for making spreadsheets and stuff but I rarely use them.

Have you ever been sent an email with a Microsoft word attachment? Some kind of insurance form you had to sign, or something from your bank. Maybe you wanted to make a proposal for a new building complex? This program will work with Microsoft office.
What would I do with this soft ware. If I had it?

If I got somethan like that I didnt have a clue what it was and ignored it. I guess I need to learn about some of that stuff. If it was a game on space book I could get the O'l lady to tell me about it.
