Did these pumpkins become giant by natural selection or were there any studies to make them giant ?

They were originally started by crossing large pumpkins with a large Blue Hubbard Squash
That's what Howard Dill told me he then just kept crossing the biggest ones and improving
the soil and now the record is over one ton
The biggest one I got was 365 pounds...that was about 4 or 5 years ago

There are very effective traps I hear for those or so I have heard.
I don't know if they work like they say though
My problem was Powdery Mildew once it hits it just over whelms the entire plant
really quick and those so called home remedies are worthless.
I'm going to nuke it this time no holds are barred with GC-3 Mildew Cure
The county ext. agent said stop growing them for two years and I did
I grew tobacco for two years.

The genetics are important but also the fertilizer regemin, and only allowing the vine to have 1 pumpkin. I've heard they don't really have any food value, and are grown just for how it looks. Might make a neat jackolantern tho

Makes sense although it is a pity that they don't have any food value. Could feed an army with some of those pumpkins!
