Hello to everybody,
I'm a 66 year old guy of English/Irish/Canadian descent but I've lived in central Italy for 23 years.
Ive been a cigar smoker all my adult life and have reached the point where I'd like to roll my own but the only supplier of whole leaf I can find are in Germany and they really only sell leaf destined for cigarette making and pipe tobacco. Some of it would be ok, such as the kentucky they sell but the leaves are full of holes, so no good as wrapper.
Have any of the European members discovered where to buy whole leaf that's been processed for cigar rolling?
I've looked at the WLT site in the US but for a $6.50 pack of seeds they want about $120 for shipping! Same for the leaf they sell...the shipping cost kills it for me.
Can anybody help?
Thanks in advance,
Paddy

Thanks a lot for the reply. And especially that link for Tabakanbau - I hadn't come across that place before but that certainly takes care of my seed requirements. Just to clarify, I've actually grown my own tobacco for pipe for years, so have a fair bit of experience in growing, curing and fermenting, but never for cigars, which is a different ball game it seems. I was hoping to find a supplier of leaf in Europe but if I can't then I'm just gonna have to grow my own! I've got enough fallow land, a plough, cultivator etc so this week I plan on prepping maybe 100sq metres for maybe 150 plants. I see on that site they sell lovely wooden molds even if a bit out of my league at €266! But I can always dream!

Bob, I've looked carefully (but am not very good at this being an old bloke) but can't find if there's a buy/sell part of this site? It's a long shot but I was hoping to see if anybody in Europe has any second hand molds for sale....

Whereas there's always the possibility of finding used molds in local antique stores or online vendors, there are some members here who 3d print their own molds.
I've seen a lot of 3d printed molds on Etsy. Here's an antique being sold in Italy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1652570310/wooden-cigar-press-mold
That's really cool - also because I assumed everything on Etsy was in the US. Gotta say for €100 that doesn't seem overpriced. Unfortunately as yet I've never rolled a figurado! Guess there's nothing to stop me learning though!

Yeah, etsy is definitely not just the US. I've bought stuff from all around the world without realizing it.
Hope you find something that suits you. Personally, I also like smoking figurados and may have to learn to roll those too.
