FmGrowit recommends 2" if your lights aren't the really hot kind. My fluorescents are about 4-5 inches right now and could stand to be lower.

Thanks Wallace 2" it is till they grow up to the lights.I tested DGbama's theory about covering seeds with a bit of soil they did come up I will know more in about a week

Well i finally got all the seedlings thinned out 1 per cell and i helped introduce two couples to growing their own by giving away my extra seedlings on craigslist i only had to restart 1 strain due to poor germination it was amarellinho

Started germination 3/15 an all were up 3/22 since they have been in single cells i swear they are bigger every morning they are already praying when i turn out the lights

Woohoo finally hit 70 for the first time this year so I broke out the tiller, I have to expand the patch 40 ft to fit my 400 plants this year,plants all doing good except the mcy is the slow one this year still small.will try to get pics next weekend

We were 82deg yesterday. I spent the day behind a tiller also; and getting a light sunburn to boot.

Looking good.

If your trays are 2-36cell pieces, you can rotate them to move the bigger plants toward the edge and the smaller toward the middle where they get more light and even out. I have been doing this every couple weeks to keep growth, my edge plants were not getting quite as large.
