Hey wise people,

I was gifted a couple pods, and minimal direction. I sprinkled onto a coconut fibre base and was told to sprinkle violet potting soil on top. I lost a lot to mold and probably some over watering and humidity issues. These were started March 20th. These pictures are from April 18th. They have not increased in height for some time. I think they are stunted by over crowding and now needing more nutrients maybe? Can someone advise how to proceed?

Your tobacco seedlings look just fine for 1 month. [I don't see any variety labels.] I would thin them at this point to 1 seedling per cell, and use some of the exiles to put a seedling into any empty cells.

The coconut fiber offers little in the way of nutrition. Do water from the bottom. Consider supplementing with a timid dose of Miracle-Gro tomato fertilizer. But don't be too impatient. Tobacco seedlings tend to suddenly begin to grow during their second month.

I agree with Bob. I would forget the Coconut fiber in future and sow straight onto a reputable seed raising mix. Use iced lolly sticks to identify each variety, they will tell when watering is required and yes always from the bottom. Also to me they look a little leggy, reaching for the sunlight. Try turning the trays daily or adjusting your lights if that's what you're using. Welcome to the forum from me in NZ.

Thank you for the reassurance this far . I forgot to mention, the variety is likely Samsun. I friend advised to cut, instead of pull, the seedlings I am going to sacrifice for the greater good...lol. If there is a way to transplant into the empty cells and give them a second chance, I'd like to know how. I am beyond surprised at how attached I've become to each and every sprout ‍♀️.
