hey fella's , i've got lot's of varieties planted, ( 6 of each type ) each variety is planted about 1 to 1 1/2 weeks apart. I'm also saving seed . The Zimmer, Florida sum, and Con broad leaf all have very yellow leaves at the base, and they have been flowering for around 3 weeks, are they ready to harvest ? I am thinking of cutting and hanging the whole plant in a tin garage, it's still pretty warm here in NZ, and once most of the moisture is gone was going to pack leaves in plastic bags to control the last drying / cure .... yes / no ? please advise

Also ... how do you get that beautiful brown colour on those wrapper leaves ?

Hey Robbie.
Its been a while since I heard from you. Glad to see you joined ftt. Hope all is well.
I would say get those leaves in the shed, prime the ones that's ripe, yellow. You can leave the green ones for later. Luckely all my tobacco's in the shed. We had loads and loads of rain, last two weeks, roads washed away, bridge broken ect, so I'm glad I've got everything in the shed. All the best.

Hi there Ben, yes it's a good site. do you normally get that much rain ? or is it ' global warming ' .... how did those 2 new cigar varieties work out ?

Definitely abnormal. Man its a real mess. The roads just aren't built for all the water, bridges collapsing, trees falling over. But at least nobody can complain about a water shortage.
