Hello All!

I am primarily a pipe smoker, but also enjoy a good cigar. Having ADHD, I tend to dive very deep into topics of interest (and like gardening) so I am researching growing some tobacco. I believe I live in the perfect location (historically speaking) to grow, southeastern NC.

Looking forward to learning as much as I can from the expert members of this forum!

Welcome to the forum. Be sure to read the New Growers' FAQ, and scan for topics of interest in our Index of Key Forum Threads. Both are linked in the menu bar.

Given how late it is in the tobacco growing season (for North Carolina), be sure to check the first frost date for your location. From seed starting to transplanting into the ground requires roughly 6-8 weeks. Most varieties can be harvested by 60-90 days after transplant. Typically 90+ days from transplant are required for maturing seed, if that is also your interest. Just check the math. If it looks like you have time for 2023, then go for it. Otherwise, starting seed for 2024 is only a bit over half a year away.
