I’ve been obsessed with tobacco ever sense I grew my first plant and ever sense it’s officially my favorite plant despite the negative image the industry has been given I’ve used my own home grown as a medicinal tea for various reasons and the more I grow it the less of it I want to smoke anything or eat anything I didn’t grow. It’s been a huge motivator for me to learn more and be healthier ironically. Maybe it’s just knowing I’ll always have access to tobacco that makes my subconscious mind not crave it as much. My family and I know smoking /using tobacco products is bad for you so not to be mistaken as advicating the use of tobacco as good. ❤️ I’m here to learn and share and maybe make some new friends in the process , I welcome all ideas anytime and advice as a newer grower I like to experiment and play with it. Permaculture student looking to discover true companion planting combinations that also include fungi as a crop rotation during the winter months, were also fascinated with no water / forest gardening techniques to restore wild habitats and let nature grow it all for you❤️ All an experiment

It’s a weed so less reliance on companion plantings needed in my mind thinking on it as has its arsenal already to help it combat threats and survive. Nicotine is a potent insecticide and produced by the plant for that purpose. I was always fascinated with tobaccos as a green home grown insecticide alternative to Monsanto and Bayer et al. chemical concoctions, the discovery and use of those companies of nicotine’s effectiveness and reprogramming in the form of neo-nicotinoids took some of the shine off it for me with their destruction of honey bees etc. when used in large quantities commercially on farms vs small home/cottage use in the garden.

If you want to use it to reduce your reliance on the chemical industry then grow it with chrysanthemum cinerariifolium and chrysanthemum coccineum to make a cocktail spray of nicotine and pyrethrum.

Being a member of the nightshade family don’t spray it on nightshade plants so as to not have any potential vector to spread any tobacco virus onto the potatoes, tomatoes etc.

The beauty of home made nicotine spray is the nicotine breaks down rapidly so after killing the insects you want gone it breaks down and doesn’t hang around to harm insects that come later such as beneficial pollinators.

❤ I’ll try those plants as well in the companion planting experiments thanks for the tip❤
I like systems that rely on natural methods.

Thank you for the kind welcoming everyone as well as all of the constant support I’m glad to be here whenever I get s chance to hop online I’m usually here or reading something otherwise this years been my busiest and this website has so much to read it’s amazing I’m getting to the point where a lot of questions are answered before I get the idea to post asking about it. I’m definitely going to take botony and any other classes that’ll help aid my understanding of plants. We’re getting melons on our honeydew vines and our sweet corn is coming in nicely but I don’t actually know the proper terminology to plant parts and so forth just yet and excited to continue to learn.

I’m very interested in the medicinal tea. Could you explain what that is and how you make it. Thank you.
