Hello All,

I am new here and want to say hello. I am
55 and live in the Dallas Fort Worth area. I do not
have enough land to have a serious grow. My friend
has 14 acres that are fallow in Parker County ( next
county over ) that I could use if I had the time to put into growing.

I work in the Aviation Industry. It has been pretty
good so far, but they are talking of outsourcing my
job to Europe sometime late this year or early next.

I have been watching the Tax in tobacco rise.
I remember when I was living in Michigan
hearing stories of people taking American Cigarettes over
to Canada as they had huge Taxes in that country.

I have been rolling smokes for my lady friend for a while
until she quit and went back to store bought. I used to get
the loose Tobacco from the boxes of Acid Brand cigars. I love
the taste of that stuff when hand rolled! I have seen the passion
on this Forum when members describe the enjoyment they
get when first trying Big Bonner's Burly or Don's Virginia Flue Cured
among others! I must have that experience!

I have tried to read enough posts to get the idea of correct and
incorrect things to post. I will do my best to respect this honorable
forum. Please excuse me if I screw up, as I mean no disrespect.

I can't wait till I I make my first order! I wish I had joined a couple
weeks sooner as I am sure I will order a shredder. The only thing
keeping me from ordering one right now is I need some good loose leaf and
I would love to find a faster way to roll. I have a Premier Supermatic now.
If anyone knows of a machine that doesn't cost over $500.00 and can speed
up my rolling process please let me know!

Thanks and See you around!

..but by paying attention, to this site, and reading the many threads, of good advice, that is on this forum,

> if you did decide, to grow next year,

you'd have all the info, you need for a guaranttee, good crop,

hope we see you around in the forums,

growing baccy, is not a hard thing to do,

but thier is a lot you need to learn, to have sucess,

Tony,

Welcome to the site and thank you for joining.

There really is no protocol for posting here. There has never been a member banned here either. The only rule isn't even a rule...all I said was "I don't need to post the rules, you already know what they are".

This forum continues to unlock the the most elusive of the industries secrets and it actually seems like we're gaining momentum.

Don't be overly concerned with what you post or where. We have some really good Mods here to do the housekeeping.

As you know, Powermatic makes the shredder. They also make a couple of different models of injectors. The sales rep. who sold me the shredders, said he thinks the Powermatic manual injector is faster than the electric injector. I haven't tried either of them yet, but I'm sure there are reviews around here somewhere.

Hey Tony, Welcome!
What I don't understand is you said you didn't have a lot of land for growing. I thought it was a Texas state law that ya'll had to have something like a minimum of 100 acres and play with cows all day... :)

Don, Do you think you could get a better price on the manual injector? On Ebay they want $75 including shipping.

Thanks to everybody that posted! I think that I will enjoy it here....

I will start my first crop with some seedlings next year. Till then
its RYO.

Just a little bit about something I heard from a co-worker. Maybe
some of you experts could shed some light on this....

I have a lady that I work with that takes care of her 94 YO Mom.
She ( the Mom ) has dipped snuff for many years. The company that
makes the kind she uses ( E.Levi and Company ) I think, is discontinuing
her brand. Not sure of the name. I just know that it comes in a bottle and
costs $30.00 per bottle. I get that the folks that like this are the older folks and
that not many are left. it has become not viable to continue to make it...

If I find out the Brand name is there any way to find out how to make
a product that might come close to meeting this ladies need? Not trying to
sell it to her. Just hate to see a senior lady lose out on her one little vice
that she enjoys! Sorry to ask a half assed question without running the
traps first. Any ideas would really be helpful.

Oh, I forgot to mention in my intro. When I was in school my coach used to
tell me this a lot. He said " Tony, you ain't slow and you ain't fast. Your half-fast!

Never did get what he was saying. LOL

Find the name of the snuff and we'll do our best to find the recipe or make it up.

Thanks Don,

Turns out that the snuff is Levi Garrett and Sons. The kind in the amber bottle. She says that they stopped making it this March. If anyone knows some old store that still has this stuff the old lady would be greatful!

Regards,

Tony
