Howdy from Texas,
I recently came upon this site after an internet search for a little-known USDA plant explorer by the name of Raymond Edward Stadelman, considered one of the most prolific Nicotiana tabacum seed collectors in the USDA program. Anyway, what I found of interest was a forum post on Stadelman which included several attached documents that were new to me.
As you might notice by my ‘Serpent’ profile, I have had a life long interest in reptiles and amphibians, have worked in two major zoological institutions, recently wrote a book of a historical nature concerning these fascinating creatures, as well as numerous magazine/journal artcles. As for Mr. Stadelman, he not only collected various native strains of tobacco seeds but was also a collector of herpetological material in Central and South America from the 1930s-1950s, hence my interest in him.
While I might not fit the profile of an average member, I hope to learn more about tobacco.
