What I find objectionable (apart from the outrageous taxes themselves), is the moral righteousness these government ministers believe they hold, to all but ban my ability to smoke, while making another poison (alcohol) readily available to all and sundry in local supermarkets, at discount prices....

My tobacco may harm me, may even kill me; but their cut price alcohol harms it's users AND causes fetal alcohol syndrome, domestic violence, car accidents, workplace accidents, mental health issues, crime...

Where is the parity?

And now, due to having a leftist government, we are soon to have cannabis on the market?

Surely they're taking the piss...
Do you know what the taxes will be?

Hi,I'm new to bringing whole leaf tobacco into nz,just wondering who's better to use for heat treatment, Rentokil or Flick?
An after ringing customs on the change of law bringing it in as of 1st July, they informed me that we would need to use companies like DHL or FedEx, an just got to apply for a permit first before ordering an once it arrives the only tax was GST of the price ,does this sound correct?
Thanx

It says on their website there will be excise tax? And did they say you need to apply for a permit if you import it before 1st july?

She said no permit needed before July as I've got some coming an she said will be ok as long as it's here before 1st July.
She was talking to her boss on another line as they were working from home an she said tax was only GST of purchase price ,oh sorry an a $56 fee as well maybe that's the excise tax part.

$56 dollar fee that seems quite low,. Hopefully that is the case because it will be good.

I used rentokil and the leaf arrived perfect. Lemons were still lemon and didn't even have to case my cigar wrapper. The whole process only took 2 weeks as well.

I'm still waiting for usps how long did it take for you to get the letter, my package had an international departure scan on the 26/3/2020, I would assume it is in NZ Customs by now.
It took about a week to reach customs, another week for the letter, and two weeks with rentokil. So about a month all up. I have been using USPS regularly for about 10 years. I have had packages go missing for up to 8 weeks with nothing but "international departure" but they always turn up eventually. Sometimes they bounce back and forth all over the planet but that will show on tracking. When the tracking says International Arrival - Auckland, that means it's been loaded on the plane and is en-route to NZ but not here yet. If not, it never left for NZ.

Haha the parcel just got another scan that it left yet another airport and a customs clearance scan in chicago and all the previous scans from 2mnths seem to be wiped but not on nzpost. So your saying this scan would mean it hasnt actually left. Can you take a look at my tracking and see if you know what this means. numbers CJ301088599US, CJ301908400US

There are massive delays on shipping at the moment.

You will need to hold a permit before bringing in a package after July 1.

Some US retailers (Leaf Only) are already charging GST on orders.

There will be a treatment fee (this'll be anywhere from $NZ70 upwards...depending on amount.

The tax/excise to pay on entry to NZ will be more than $56...and it'll be based amount, not a set fee.

Their ears must have been burning. The 400 one is still in SF. When it is loaded on the plane to NZ it will say "international arrival - Auckland". SF is the last stop before NZ. When it actually arrives in Auckland it will say "transfering to next facility". The other one is probably still in Chicago and about to leave. I've had a parcel "arrive" in Auckland only to turn up in Peru, then Moscow, then UAE. Tracking is always what the parcel is ABOUT to do - at least for the international flights.
