Greetings everyone! I was caught in the crossfire of the Canada Post strike, but my WLT order has finally arrived in pristine condition. A big thank you to everyone involved for making such a nice quality product! In addition to Canadians getting fleeced from cigarette prices, I also started taking my cardio seriously, and thus made the transition to pipe smoking to minimize the strain on the lungs. And wow, I'm only on day 1, but I can already tell that I won't miss our death sticks for a second. 11/10, well done.

Some notes from a total noob that I've already gathered:
  1. The smell - WLT imparts none of the nasty chemical "sleazy dive bar ashtray" residual stink behind. My sweater hardly had a scent, despite many of my intro puffs blowing downwind smoke into my own face.
  2. The nicotine sensation from WLT feels very "clean" and gives a calming, stimulating feeling. I feel like I could hypothetically enjoy pipe tobacco before lifting (if for some reason I decided to), while I could also wind down with it before bed or reading a book. The God-knows-what chemicals in local cigarettes would often have me feeling agitated and anxious for a while, while the nicotine left me feeling sapped of energy and focus.
  3. Last but not least, I'm no longer giving the middle finger to my wallet. I knew WLT was of course exponentially more cost-efficient while being higher quality, but my jaw hit the floor when the lady at the post office delivered my 3lb order, of which the bag looked like it contained an XXL wool jacket. Images online do not do justice to how much product you're actually getting per pound, and I am pleasantly surprised to have more than I know what to do with (time to be a bad influence and offer some to friends :devilish: ??)
I have two pipes, one Dr. Grabow briar, and one Missouri Meerschaum "Washington" cob. The Grabow was a deeply enjoyable experience, as they pre-char their pipes to be ready for immediate smoking. The cob tasted like pure chemicals, and apparently needs quite a bit of breaking in, so right now my positive reference is with real briar. My first order was a pound of each Virginia red, Virginia brightleaf, and Kentucky dark fire. The kind folks at WLT even included a generous threshed Canadian lemon sample! Well played for throwing that in, as I know what my next order will contain, most likely with some Perique and others.

Thanks again to everyone for both the quality whole leaf and knowledge. I look forward to building my skills with this hobby in the coming months.
