Hello chums. I’m from New Zealand and the taxes are rough so I’ve figured I’ll start testing out my green thumb later on this year when the time comes and see if it’s for me. I’ve read around and I think I have a pretty good grasp on what’s going on for the most part. I’ll unfortunately only have access to a space of dirt that is 1395mm x 2295mm available to me for this first time around and although that is less than ideal I know, I’m still gonna give it a spin and next year I’ll hopefully have access to much more space. Curious whether you blokes would recommend putting together a kiln even on this first tiny round?

Kia ora bro, and welcome from Tauranga.

If you’re handy, have the space and have access to some materials (keep an eye out for a free or cheap fridge/chiller or something similar on trademe) I would definitely say a kiln is worth it.

You smoking pipes or RYO?

Welcome from me in The Far North of NZ. As Davo says a kiln is easy. My first kiln was an old fridge, an old crock pot and a cheap controller. Plenty of how-to's here. Also depending on where you live you may be able to have two grows a year, I can and will this year. You can also grow in pots or buckets indoors. Check out the forum and have fun with your new hobby.

Luck has it that I have a rundown fridge doing nothing so I suppose that saves $50 sending it to the skip. I always roll smokes but I think this first attempt at a grow I’m gonna try to make a pipe blend so I reckon it probably is in my best interest to get a kiln/flue happening which doesn’t seem like too much of a mission hopefully.

I’m based in the lower north island fwiw. I think I will end up whipping a kiln together since I already have a rundown fridge taking up space, so maybe it was meant to be haha.
