The whole "patch" is going through a nice wilt today. Up top growth really slowed down the past couple of days, I suspect their energy has gone towards frantically putting out roots searching for moisture. I'll quench their thirst tomorrow and the leaves should start shooting up again.

I ordered some more soil so hopefully I can finish planting out tomorrow. I've been stressing out the remainder of the seedlings so when they get a new home they can take off and catch up to the others.

April 20. Planted fifteen more grow bags. 33 plants total. 18 plants first batch. 15 plants this batch.
All Reams 158 flue cure variety. All seeded on the same day and grown in the same 1020 tray. First batch was transplanted March 26 and then I ran out of soil. Remainder of seedlings remained in 1020 cells. I got some more soil today. We shall see how long it takes the littl'uns to catch up with the biguns.

I'm going to play around with the one pool for a few days. Drain hole is 1" above bottom.
When the soil is dry, I can spin the pool 90, 180 degrees for more sun.
I don't think plant spacing will be a problem since each are in their own containers, so no root intrusion.
I can reach inside to all my leaves from the outside.
Alot of plants in a small space.
I'm interested to see how this all plays out. All theories and speculation at the moment. I just don't want to have to water daily like last year. I can mix fertilizer in 5 gal. buckets and just pour it in the pool. I already bailed all the excess water out once and it took less than 5 minutes for one pool with a plastic drinking cup so if I get too much rain I can bail out all the excess water from three pools in about 15 minutes. I could use a siphon, or a battery operated transfer pump. When summer finally gets here, rains will be few and far between.
All the plants will fit in three pools.

Once I ordered my transfer pump I decided to finish out the Tobacco Archipelago, comprised of three tobacco island patches in a sea of concrete. 31 plants in three 4' kiddie pools. 2 that didn't fit went into a used 1020 tray.

edit: I can use the transfer pump to add fertilizer/water to the pools or bail out excess water. Most of the time I will just add straight filtered water with the garden hose.
