Nope this was some dark fired wrapper I had lying around and WLT red va. Bogies are Mixed 50:50, pigtail is dfk puro. I then ‘stoved’ in jars in the slow cooker on high (300f) for about 14hours.

At the same time I did process some home grown though. It got the same slow cooker treatment except in a plug instead of twist.

the homegrown was the crazy leaf grown in tyres. Due to root clumping, the leaves were maturing very small and having an oriental vibe about them. I pile colour cured the last of it and then did some quasi-sun/forgetting about it curing before pressing under the ride on lawn mower wheel. I’m really looking forward to trying this in the weekend

I did zero casing and added no extra liquid this time. The dark fired leaf was already quite black so I can’t really see a difference, however the red va has browned nicely and the homegrown was yellow/light green even before being processed, and darkened significantly. The bag I had the home grown in actually split during the process so it let a small amount of liquid in.

normally when using the slow cooker I have two approaches:

‘stoving’ - think along lines of best brown/fvf.

1:2 ratio water to leaf weight. On low (190f) from cold for 7-10hours and then left to cool down.

‘cavendish’

1:1 ratio water to leaf weight. On high (300f) from cold for 10hours and then left to cool down.

I then thoroughly dry to low case/out of case.

I also ribbon cut leaf prior to doing cavendish. Stoving is normally in plug or twist. But have had success as ribbon too. If I wanted to infuse a flavour into blend, I would go with the ribbon cut stoving approach.

I like how manageable the technique is. I can do a couple of different jars at once and can leave it to do it’s thing. In the future I would like to experiment with using the slow cooker as a means for preventing/killing mould spores too
