It was a dark and stormy night; the rain fell in torrents, except at occasional intervals, when it was checked by a violent gust of wind which swept up the creek, rattling the black walnuts, and fiercely agitating the scanty flames of the fireflies that struggled against the darkness.
I was passed out on the bank of my pond after eating too much of Mad Oshea's rum cake, driven by hunger from the insanity brought on by housing burley soaked in dew. I had been fishing for Russian sturgeon as the sun went down. As I awakened from my sleep, I looked over at She Who Was in My Arms. Should I gnaw my arm off? Just then the hairy beast woke up, giggled, and stole my picnic basket with the last half of the cake in it. 'Nuts" I thought, there goes the hair of the dog. My head was pounding. My heart was crawling with disgust and self loathing, how would I tell my wife I had just slept with a sasquach?
I was brought out of my funk when Horrors Greely, the cow who thinks she's a rhinoceros stroll up with the ghost of Edward Bulwer-Lytton on her back. He asked me for a smoke. I rolled him one using my 1950's roller and some mud lugs I saved saved on Knuckleheads advice. Edward said he liked my tobacco can. I told him I found it on the six hundred level in the old Grey Raven mine 30 years before. ED thanked me and rode off with the crazy cow as she stole my string of sturgeon.
Just then the alarm went off and my wife pushed me out of bed.
