Floor boards are cut and waiting for bilge cleaning after last minute cutting on underside of splashwell and last minute painting or inside hull... Cabin is not a huge problem... Worst part is waiting for paycheckl to equal the parts needed for steering and control and generator! lol.... Might be dayfishing for a while.

Finally ran motor... Tommorow we will get mechanic to check the drip on what we think it the fuel pressure thing-a-ma-jig and will do last minute rat killing and head her to the water... Like adding pipe to the bits and drilling drains in splashwell and cutting an access hole in floor so we can tell if drain plugs are in place [[[[NOTE TO MYSELF:::CHECK DRAIN PLUGS]]]] Oh yeah and putting tag on... Registration gotta wait till next check tho... Hope that same dam lady cop aint around......................

Unless the "package" we found in the video turns out to be what Sheila said it was.. Wimmin arent really good at motor diagnosing like us men tho.

Maybe yall can come down and catch some fish for the tobacco plants or something :)

Gotta start the cabin as soon as all the plants are in ground and she will sleep 4-6 and will have the 2 gallon "Rita" machine working by then

We took her out a while today. Found a few things seriously wrong.....
1] wrong hand prop
2] redneck steering sucked
3] brake on trailer hangs up in reverse. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
4] small leak on choke solinoiod and needs tuneup on motor too

We did get her on top and fast one time but decided to wait to film when bugs worked out later tommorow

Nice boat. What kinda fishin you gonda do? I worked in the gulf when I was a kid.

Trout redfish flounder and mullet..... And of course shrimp and oysters and crab.....

Still have to add cabin and margarita machine ..... She should sleep 4 in bunks...

Party deck on top too so will be lotsa room.....

I think the reason she is running ruff is I plugged off the auto oiling system and premixed the gas but there is some sensors that have to be disconnected I bet. ANd hopefully only need another prop.... She moved fast enuff to pull skiers for a while but the wind was blowing and I didnt feel like doing the African Queen thing with her getting her back to the dock :)

Went today for a few minutes to a local peir to throw net and hit a dam oyster bed .................... Dang sharp but legal size oysters and me with no gloves. Lord they were prime tho.... Salty and fat lil bastids......
Got a dozen and a half and for once I didnt get cut. Shallow oysters have razor sharp bills and I didnt have boots to wade up any more. Tommorow will get enuff for a farewell party for Sheila who is going home after a lil stay here helping me with boat and plants... The other 1/2 plants will find home in Tyler , Texas and hopefully make it there in the ground soon.

5-22-13:

Went to town today at 3 am to register boat. Wanted to beat traffic as I dont have working trailer lights and no time to fix them . Appointments are given only in 2 week intervals so it was today or later.
Was no traffic and Sheila followed in her truck so it was all safe.
The fella in charge was somewhat a crook tho. He had me hold the tape to measure decks and strung out the tape down the side of the decks in a lazy series of s's and also told me to hold the end about an inch over outside of the bow plate. Now I make my living measuring stuff but he was the official and dumass me went along with it. He announced "26' 6" " Which cost me double price in registration fees as cuttoff is 26".

He was one of those arrogant bastids who looks down on anything homemade and it well showed. He went into a 5 minute tirade about me not using the boat without having a title on the motor and did the "wrist together " thing showing me that it was not just a fine but a "hand-cuffing" offence. It didnt dawn on me how arrogant he was being but when he started that, all the anger about how the sportsman groups raped the commercial fisherman of their livlihood under the guise of protecting the environment came back.

Bottom line ................ the guy was and is and most likely will be a jerk.

I asked them about the shrimp trawl regulationgs which read. "The allowable width of trawl will be 20' between trawl doors". Last year it was " Max width will be 20' from door tip to door tip"

He couldn't answer and said it was up to the arresting officer. BTW a trawl door for this size net is about 18" long or 3' total. And the books are full of this type "open to interpretation" laws. The result is about 3' difference in size of trawl allowed.

Also the Marine Gestapo have more power than the Texas Rangers, DPS, Highway Dept, Local and state cops.. They are on same level as Federal Marshall. All that has to be done to be pulled over by them OR have a complimentary home invasion complete with NO SEARCH WARRENT is probable cause. IE: SOmeone says you have an over size fish in your freezer!!!!! And you can lose you vehicle , boat , trailer and motor for same violation.

The new generation of Gestapo has been raised with terror storys of commercial plundering of resources and come onto the field feeling like Don Juan saving the world. What is so bad is that with all the curtailment of the commercial segment , that the fishing limits for recreational use are getting smaller and more stringent and the catch s are still going down............ But people still contribute to the conservastion groups blindly and the groups continue paying off the Marine Management Law enforcement Gestapo in violation of conflict of intrest laws and we continue sending more of our hard earned dollars overseas for seafood along with our oil dollars. They have their brochures in the goverment offices to be handed out. No NRA brochures there tho.

Ok................ vented for now but today I have to go pay $450 for taxes on my dam outboard.. WHich was bought fair and square from PA and they gave me a tax break. Now Texas wants that windfall back............ Yay for the home team......

PS: Motor is out of shop and untested still grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr And funds for dam taxes put the purchase of a regular steering system on hold another pay period..............

They are bad everywhere you go. Last year I bid a walk in cooler job for the DNR (which stands for Do Not Recognize your rites) I said I had permit costs and they said "you don't have to pull a permit for us were the law" OOOOOHHHHH that made my blood Boil ! Your video made me homesick for Fort Myers. That greyist brown gulf water is in the blood and it's there to stay.
