I understand as well. I will try not to bring up this type of discussion, including nicotine as well. After all I am not qualified to make conclusions on the random information I have gathered. I’m definitely not a doctor.

For me, this is not a moral, biochemical, pharmacological or physiological issue. This is a human cultural issue. Many psychotropic compounds are illegal in various parts of the world. We, as FTT participants, are part of a worldwide forum specializing in an increasingly unpopular subject: tobacco. I'm simply trying to minimize the legal jeopardy to the forum, so that it might continue to exist for you a while longer.

That is very well appreciated. At the same time, I do feel like its important for people to be aware that N. rustica does contain some harmala albeit in trace amounts particularly for people who are taking a prescription medication which elevates serotonin levels. There is such a thing as too much serotonin and harmala in combination with a prescribed medication such as an SSRI can lead to too much serotonin in which case a person could be in for a very bad headache. I've known of cases of hospitalization being required. So, for the sake of human safety, I think its good that people are aware of N. rustica containing some harmala and that it is contraindicated when taking something like an SSRI. Now as for what a person ought to do about it? Go talk with their primary care provider. Then the person can figure out if its something for them to worry about or not. Up until reading this thread, I was not aware N. rustica contains some harmala and I'm glad I do know now as it enables me to make better informed decisions regarding my health/safety even if the issue is small potatoes.
