I got my seeds started early this year and am happy with the results so far.

Four varieties were planted, and one from a friend who said it was a "lite" tobacco, but did not know the name.

The 5 pictures are in order: Big Gem, Virginia Gold, Tennessee Burly, Maryland, and finally the unknown "lite".

I have no clue what the last one is, it was sent from a friend in Alabama.
Could be Cowboy Lite for all I know, I'm not familiar enough with it.
Given his style of record-keeping, even if he said what it was I would probably still be second guessing.

Once it flowers and is fully grown, I will post pics for possible ID.

I do plan on bagging all the tops to save the seed on all the varieties, so there will (hopefully) be enough to send out to those who may want some sent out to them.
That reminds me, I have to get the bags ordered ASAP before they start to flower.

I forgot one more picture. This is what I added to the tilled area, and tilled it through the nice freshly loosened dirt.

Knowing I was going to till it through, I put twice as much as directed knowing I will lose a lot because of the very sandy soil.

Everything is looking good so far so I'm thinking it was a good thing to do. Absolutely nothing was growing in that area, so there were no nutrients at all.

I hated to do it, but I had to use some BT because of the horn worms. :(

I found 2 little white ones this afternoon but they were only about 1cm long and did not look active, so I guess it's working.

Here is a pic of the Big Gem. The tallest one (about in the middle of the picture) is at around 8ft tall. As you can see, the worms did not do too much damage to the leaves - and I aim to keep it that way if at all possible.
