Actually, I believe that hearing the voices of real people lends authenticity to a video. The voice-over would simply add narrative comments where required.

Usually those annoying emoticons give away my seriousness. I can assure you...I am joking around.

I assumed you were, but you can never be too sure in this world lol. It's the same with me and lol. I hate how legitimate the word lol sounds to me. Damn language.

Seriously just for a minute folks (No, No not too long - :D) I have listened to the words I said on a couple of my videos and they ruined what might otherwise be OK. If I do any more I'll script what I plan to say and stick pretty much to the plan. What your hands do can be overshadowed by poor audio. As a suggestion, listen (really listen) to what you did several times. When you get over your reaction to how you really sound you may be able to improve on your own performance. We laugh at some of the faux pas our political candidates make and they work hard at being smooth.

BarG -- There are times when a regional accent is a real plus. When I started announcing I thought I spoke middle American. The station owner made me go to voice school. The instructor handed each of us a 3 X 5 file card with about six sentences typed on it and asked us to read it. When each of us finished he told us very accurately where were brought up and in many cases when we changed locations and where we went to school. I'm talking about +/- a couple of hundred miles. Those of us who spoke a second language were quickly identified. That's when I started really listening and studying. There are times when it makes no difference at all and times when it is a plus. I think Julia Childs is a prime example. She had a voice that would offend glass but her cooking shows were very well received.

Bottom line -- You are not as bad or good as you think.

The best word spoken in the queens tongue is hospital, it's like everyone decided the word only had 1 consonant.

I look forward to this.

i also agree that the accents give it something. if its inaudible or really not understandable then i guess voice overs. maybe its just me, but i can understand just about any accent. maybe thats just cause i also do voices/accents/impersonations. my wifes my only real spectator but she likes it, sometimes it scares her. anyway i had a vid in mind at harvest time and just didnt have time, maybe next year.

There is a lot that can be done with that page. Before I start posting there, I'd like to have it designed properly. It will be an extension of the forum, but hosted elsewhere which will expose the content to many more people than if the videos were hosted on the forum.

This will take a little time to put together, but it will be worth it.

Anybody working on the introductory video?

I'm not working on any videos. The page design is my priority right now. You're more than welcome to put something together if you are so inclined. This has to be a group project if it is going to work.

My guess is most all videos will be posted with the most informative and well done becoming "official" (for lack of a better term) FTT videos and another section of "members contributions" categorized like the forums, but with far fewer categories.

Keep the ideas coming. There isn't even a format design yet.

Where can I get a good hi res pic of our logo. A URL would be nice. I'd like to try that and a selection of descriptive tobacco/tool/fabrication pics as a the base for a voice over slide show. Who knows? I may fall flat on my face. I wouldn't be a first.

Here is something I was just messing around with if it's ideas for design you were looking for.
