I got here from searching for info about growing tobacco for cigars , and to see if it can be done in Ohio and from what i see quite a few do it . Ive been a cigar smoker since 18 and just was inspired by listening to Fidel's account of how cohiba got started. (no im not a communist) so I wanted to get in on the action and see how it would go for me , hope i can do this with out my neighbors wondering what the massive plants in my back yard are, ha.

Welcome to the forum. Ohio has been a commercial producer of tobacco for about 150 years. So your likelihood of success is high.

Welcome my brother smokes cigars and the tobacco needs to be well aged. I personally would buy some. I think most cigars are aged at least 5 years

Welcome! Yes, the cigar tobacco is aged to a minimum of 4+ years at: http://wholeleaftobacco.com plus there are many growers from Ohio as well. The company listed on this link is also in Ohio. Depending on your location, you could probably stop by there and pick some up. The best place to get seed is: http://www.northwoodseeds.com There's 300+ seeds per small pack compared to other companies that only include 100. There's lots of info on this site, and it seems that there's always several on this site you could ask questions too, or post a question.
Personally, this is the best site I've been on out there.
