Spread some of your olden time lore! If you don't know what I mean by that, read the following blurb

Red Sky at night Sailor's delight, red sky in the morning sailors take warning.

Just tid bits of good information that have been passed down since God knows when. What have you got?

When a crescent moon is turned upright it is going to rain. When it is turned sideways it is holding it's water.
When there is a ring around the moon count the stars in it and that is how many days before it will rain.
If the sun sets with clouds it will rain.
If smoke goes to the ground it will rain.
If earthworms come to the surface of the ground it will rain.
The weather will be nice if smoke rises.

It will be a bad winter if:
Squirrels build their nests low in trees.
Hornets build nests low to ground.
Squirrel tails are bushier than normal.
Beaver lodges have more logs.
Squirrels gather nuts earlier. (mid to late Sept.)
Animals fur or hair is thicker than normal.
Hoot owls call late in the fall.
Birds eat all the berries early.
Blackberry blooms are real heavy.
Grapes and apples mature early.
Sweet potatoes have a tougher skin.
Onions grow more layers.
Carrots grow deeper.
Heavy crop of berries, acorns and pine cones.
Corn shucks and silk grow thicker, shucks tighter and further over ends of the ears.
Late frost.
Long hot summer means long cold winter. Hotter the summer, colder the winter.

The black stripe on a wooly worm indicates how cold the winter will be, wide stripe cold winter. All black, hold on tight and cut more firewood.

If your nose itches you are going to have company. If your hand itches you will come into some money.

All signs fail in dry weather.

It's hotter than a cowboy's tater.

It's colder than a well digger's aZZ. It's colder than a witches' teat.

Wind in the East, fish bite the least.

Water tends to run downhill...and you can't push on a rope.

My 86 year old neighbor has taught me one and a half old sayings. The first one was after I lost twin bull calves. "Them's got must lose, them ain't cain't."

i knew the first half of this one: Plant turnips 25th of July, wet or dry. You'll have em by October, drunk or sober.
