I tried some in a rollie and although the leaf was only 4-5 days old I was v impressed with it

I can't wait to try my SMYRNA #9
IZMIR OZBAS
BAFRA
BURSA
these are apparently turkish / oriental ...... I have tried my BLACK SEA SAMSUN and I could not detect any of that ' CAMEL / LUCKY STRIKE ' smell

would you use these types in a cigar ?

Oriental leaf (all varieties of tobacco, really) need either to be kilned, or to be aged for a few months to 2 years to acquire their characteristic taste and aroma. Orientals taste different if they are air-cured vs sun-cured (the traditional method).

In general, Orientals won't give you a "cigar" taste, no matter how they are cured and finished.

thanks bob, i'm sun curing all my leaf at the moment as I don't have a kiln ..... once it has dried out enough and green > yellow > starting to turn brownish, I transfer the leaf that I have stacked top and tail and also face to face back to back .... this then goes into a v large zip lock plastic bag, and into an old car sitting here that gets pretty darn hot inside, I can adjust the moisture loss by opening the bag more / less ... after about 7 - 12 days the leaf has turned a rich brown colour ..... and mmmmmm smells fantastic .... have yet to smoke it but it sure looks good

gidday there Colin, what varieties are you doing, i've managed to get 24 going .... but it seriously looks like I may run out of decent heat from the sun to dry & cure the last 1/2 dozen varieties
