Nice looking sticks!

What did you use for filler/wrapper ?

Filler: Medium case
1/2 leaf Aleman Ligero
1 leaf Piloto Cubano Seco
1 Leaf Brazilian Mata Fina
1/2 Paraguay Flojo Viso

Dominican Binder: Medium/High case 1/2 leaf (single binder)

Wrapper: High case/wet
Criollo '98

I haven't rolled many cigars yet, I think this group is number 11 thru 14:cool:. The first 10 didn't have any ligero and I found them to be a little mild. So far I find it much easier to get a good roll with my filler in medium case. I am going to smoke a couple before I decide what leaf to add to the mix to increase the ring gauge up to 50. My gut tells me I will most likely add 1 more leaf of the Piloto seco.

The Flojo Viso is a huge leaf. 1/2 leaf of the flojo is bigger than a full leaf of the Mata Fina.

Good Evening y'all, check out my latest batch:

MxRpId1.jpg

They're mostly filled with Colombian seco, Brazilian Viso, and Criollo ligero; a few have a leaf or two of Cameroon seco, and one has a leaf of Sumatra (the little pale one). One has a little Aleman in the filler as I had some extra binder. All are bound with Aleman. The darker wrappers are Cameroon, and the lighter ones Ecuador Shade. There are a couple of wrapping flaws - the Cameroon wrappers are kind of small (get the big ones next time Bruck), and in a couple of cases I ran out of wrapper before I ran out of cigar :)

I tried a couple of triple caps - still on that learning curve! There are a couple of pigtails as you can see, but most are just cylindrical and capless.

OUTSTANDING!

I nominate MarcL as the Cigar Artist of the Month.

You mind if I steal your idea? What do you do -- just glue on leafy bits?

Really Good Steve! Keep up the good work!!!
I'm thinking that top one is the store bought Punch Champion. The second one down looks like a Smithdale Maduro from the FX Smiths' Sons factory. So neither of those is my fault. My perfectos all looked way worse than Steve's until I scored a mold off E-prey. So Steve's fecto is not bad at all for freehand.

This truly is a pic of my stick! Had some of my cured Indian Black mudlugs and rolled this little guy. Suprisingly...not bad. Got a little harshness but tolerable.

Yesterday rolled finally some puros. 3 sticks. It rained earlyer in the day, so it was very humid, i think 90 +.
I was completly wet, wetter then my wrapper :D.
Now I had that I thought I had some experience, they were the hardest.
Something I found out is that you have to have your leaves in good shape BEFORE you start. If you you have to take care of that while rolling it is to hard.
Today I started bringing my leaves in the right form. this is spraying them with destilled water till they are good for unfolding without breaking. This is a lot of work, takes longer then rolling.
Now I have boxes with binders en filler nearly ready to use.
This will help a lot for my next batch.
I had some non acid pectin in the fridge for 2 months now and maybe it became a bit darker, but still good glueing. No taste at all. I tried it on some paper and very good glue.
My 3 new trials are very ok after being in the mold. One i wrapped the same day.
The two others today and something i remarked was hoe dry the were the next day. They were on the table in plastic molds and got some morning sun. Being black the mold, they dryed out a lot. Something i will consider in next tries.
I have them now at +/- 55 rH and will keep them there fore a few day, before i put them in my humidor a few day.
I'm very exited about the African flojo I used, what a smell.
Will post some pics in a few days.

PS : my google translate was not working

Jan.

Try downloading the Google Chrome internet browser. It automatically translates foreign languages into the language of your choice with very little input on your part. Pull up a foreign language website, give Google Chrome a couple of minutes and the whole thing will be translated for you.

Example
German seed site from Firefox, no translation: http://www.tabakanbau.de/de/
