My turn to show some bread.
About a week ago, a friend gave me some of her sourdough, so I started by trying to figure if I can feed it correctly (which took me a few days...).
When I saw it was nicely active with a nice smell (wednesday), I decided : it's time to make some bread !

So here is the result, my first home breads ever :

I am very happy because they are really good ! Well, they WERE very good, since we ate them already.

The breads were made with two different flours :
- wheat flour (the left one)
- "petit épautre" or "Triticum monococcum" flour (the right one)

Next step : trying to make them become a bit more airy.

We have a very good baker where we live, so we always have some good bread, but i am proud my first home made bread had nothing to be ashamed of (compared to our baker's bread) :)

Jiffy Swiss Miss Quarantine Cake

To these ingredients (with milk replacing the expected water), I added 1/2 tsp of baking powder, and 1/2 tsp of Mexican vanilla. I then followed the instructions on the Jiffy Cake Mix box.

"Can Bobby come out and play?"
"I'm sorry, Billy. He's into quarantine cake right now, both having it and eating it too."

The Swiss Miss and vanilla give this cake a soft, milk chocolate flavor, rather than the usual cloying, "rich, dark chocolate" of chocolate cake mixes. Using milk instead of water results in its being more moist, because of the added milk fat (I used whole milk).

@Charly Those fine loaves sure don't look like your first. Damn french bakers ;). Excellent work.
Thank you very much, but since I have only done it one time, I call it the beginner's luck.
I will soon try again (my wife want me to try to do a brioche ! So it will be a first try, again (I shiver).

"Damn french bakers" : :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Your bread seems very good too ! (y):) Congratulations.

@MarcL That's brilliant! I've made bread with my spent grains before but never thought to put them in dog treats. Although, I would probably have to banish the Labrador from the house if he ate any of those; he's quite gassy enough as-is.

"...in an effort to protect coastal cities from the Black Death ravaging 14th-Century Europe, ships arriving in Venice from infected ports were required to sit at anchor for 40 days (quaranta giorni) before landing, a practice that eventually became known as quarantine – derived from ‘quarantino’, the Italian word for a 40-day period."

Brandemic in my Fridge!

I just noticed a Walmart House-brandemic in my refrigerator.

The shot was posed, but the new discovery makes my cold fridge a new hot spot.
